Quote from: DKG on May 16, 2024, 09:39:14 AMThe IRA is a present to the far left.

That's just rhetoric. It doesn't reflect reality. It's full of half-measures (at best) and poison pills and only serves as a deceptive talking point for fundraising and campaign ads.

No serious leftist thinks it's anything but a sick joke, just like the infrastructure bill.

Congress, as usual, started out with a package that had a few decent things in it but, as usual, they split the bill into the good stuff and the stupid performative shit then passed the latter while letting the former wilt on the vine.

There are no leftists in the democrat party.
There are only con artists and liars who appropriate leftist language and trappings to sell their voters horrible policies and legislation by pretending they're "progressive". That way the voters can feel smug and happy about supporting horrible policies and legislation while telling themselves they're the "good guys" but they're really only useful idiots brainwashed by a wholly corrupt party that hates them for being inconvenient peasants.

The democrats don't have a "far-left base".

Anyone who could accurately be described as far-left abandoned the democrats by now, if they ever considered themselves democrats in the first place.

The idea that #GenocideJoe is pandering to leftists damn near had me choking from laughter.

That's simply partisan dreck.

Quote from: Herman on May 13, 2024, 11:01:28 PMGeorge Clooney and Julia Roberts are headlining a big fundraising thing for Jim Crow Joe in LA in June.

Jim Crow Joe has a lock on the rich entertainer and super rich donors. But, Trump leads by a landslide among small donors.

Democrats:
"We're getting pwned! We need to do something!"

Advisor #1:
"We could adopt policies that people are clamoring for."

Democrats (cringing):
"Eww no."

Advisor #2:
"This won't win an election but we could make a shit ton of money if we got celebrities to hold fundraisers for us. We could charge whatever we want for tickets and the sky's the limit for tickets that include photos with the candidate and celebrities."

Democrats:
"I like it! Good thinking that man!"

Advisor #1:
"But the voters..."

Democrats:
"Would you shut the fuck up about voters? Nobody cares! Who hired this dipshit anyway?"

Quote from: Herman on May 13, 2024, 10:11:07 PMBrother don't hold back. What do you really think of old Hillary.

Thanks for reminding me:
She's also soulless, malicious, corrupt as fuck, and a war criminal.

I think that pretty much covers it now.

Hillary has always been repulsive.
The more she appeared in public and people were reminded of how repulsive she is the more her favorability numbers would drop. Why they keep letting her speak for democrats is a mystery to me.

There is a small and shrinking group of Clintonistas who worship her and always will but everyone else can't fucking stand her and just seeing her face on the television costs the democrats a few more votes every time it happens.

<light bulb>

Now that I think about it, they should put her out there more often.
Like every day, 30 times a day at least.
Nothing will toss the democrats into the garbage dump of history faster or more thoroughly.

Hillary can Pokemon GO fuck herself and take the democrats with her.

Wasn't this same topic discussed not long ago?

Anyway, my answer is the same:

If you want to worry about the economy tanking forget domestic policy (capitalists aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot over which figurehead gets to sit in the oval office) and pay attention to de-dollarization and the economic realignments being led by BRICS.

The world's justifiably seeking alternatives to the weaponized dollar and when those changes happen on a large enough scale we're not just talking about one bad quarterly outlook; it's going to be long-term if not permanent.

Quote from: DKG on May 13, 2024, 08:50:21 AMI have read that several top Ukrainian generals want Zelensky to negotiate a surrender treaty wih Moscow. The outspoken military leaders have been dismissed, jailed or are in exile.

I can imagine that somewhere out there is a secretly recorded video of Biden threatening to withhold cash shipments to Ukraine unless Zelensky fires everyone who doesn't want the conflict to continue.

I mean, it's not like Biden hasn't pulled that shit before...

Quote from: Odinson on May 13, 2024, 05:16:55 AMApparently Ukraines northern border has no defense.

The ukes most likely pocketed all the cash intended for building defensive lines.

Zelensky and others have pocketed fortunes, no doubt, but Ukraine's biggest problem is that they've run out of soldiers to throw into the meat grinder. We could send them all the guns and tanks and artillery shells in the world but without soldiers to use them what good are they?

I suspect that's why Macron and others have started making noises about sending NATO/western troops into Ukraine; they know full well that Ukraine's military ranks have been decimated and even if they can somehow scrape together replacements they'll be untrained inexperienced and dead themselves before long.

Ukraine was never going to defeat Russia.
The only question is how many more Ukrainians have to be killed before Zelensky or whoever replaces him comes to the negotiating table (for real this time) and accepts Russia's terms of surrender.

Quote from: Biggie Smiles on May 12, 2024, 11:24:03 AMSo basically you go to jail when you speak your mind during a democrat administration

good to know

The dystopian surveillance and control state is corporate, not political:

That guy's problem is with genocide protestors but if you think it won't also be aimed at people whose ideologies look a lot more like yours just remember the folk who got jacked up simply for being *at* the January 6th protest.

It's not a red /vs/ blue problem.
It's a 1% /vs/ 99% problem and for decades the 1% have had their way 100% of the time.

Good.
#GenocideJoe has got to go.

Quote from: Biggie Smiles on May 10, 2024, 04:26:56 PMWell, she is a democrat after all so I do not expect much else out of her.

My standards for them are low to begin with but when I some small signs of brain activities my curiosity does seem to get the better of me. But you're right, she'll be squawking Orange Man Bad because he had sex with someone 20 years ago like all the other talking heads by next week

TYT are infamous for doing the "we have to vote blue to save democracy" shuffle no matter what else they'd been saying in the run-up to an election. Their audience (what's left of it) and the audiences of jaggoffs like Bill Maher are probably the exact same shitlibs.
