He was actually pretending to be a lil Japanese girl at BF in an attempt to catfish this horndog named Maxis.

I don't think I've ever met or even heard of this 'Maxis' fellow but is it at all possible that Maxis was such a horndog that he jumped to a few conclusions and ended up embarrassing himself?

Not trying to make insinuations but I find it difficult to believe anyone could mistake Poppy -in any sort of costume- for a little Japanese girl.

Poppy has always been what we could diplomatically call "eccentric".

It has a certain surreal charm, actually.

Usenet was fun, I'm not going to lie, despite the fact that at least half the nyms found in the alt.* portion of the newsgroup hierarchy were Poppy Socks.

Poor kid used to get so confused about all the nyms he was using that he'd often talk to himself as if it were two (or more!) different people.

Good times.

The dreaded last stage of Cotton Balls.

(Thanks George... it's still funny after all these years)

Poppy, you're still operating a few degrees offset from the rest of us.

Put down the controller, go hydrate, and then get some rest.

You'll thank me in the morning.

Given the name of the subforum this should definitely be here...

Something catches up with all of us, even if it's only time.

I 'spect with me it'll be cigarettes because I gave up binge drinking and whatnot ages ago.

AHAHAHAHA! Leveling while crafting, so you were punching rocks to get iron ore and slapping trees for lumber?

I clearly typed "leveling my crafting" as in being able to craft higher-end stuff and we were also quite obviously discussing converting bought gems to crafting materials/etc. which I wouldn't have had to do if I'd been spending all my time out there punching rocks and slapping trees, no?

Perhaps you shouldn't play so much Cuphead; it's making you a little... twitchy.

True story, I bought gems to turn into gold a few times.

Same, especially when I was leveling crafting (all but Scribe) and once or twice since to speed up crafting Ascended armor/weapons or to buy some of those bloody Black Lion keys.

I don't really mind since the game's not subscription based and not having to shell out _X_ dollars every month for all these years sort of evens things out.

Don't get me wrong I love GW2 but there are aspects that my lone-wolf casualness make less than pleasurable...

I long ago gave up on the thought of collecting all the far-flung crap necessary for legendary equipment and even the jade turtle mount requires one of the strike missions so that's as far as I've gotten on that.

Still, as you say there's always the metric shit ton of mastery points, achievements, and that kinda stuff that I'll never manage to 100% most of no matter how many years I play.

I maxed Fishing only to look more closely at the req's for one of those spiritwood poles and just laughed.

I don't grind enough (at all?) to make gold that way and I'm sure as hell not buying gems every other week just to satisfy another aesthetic whim.

I keep getting Black Lion chests as drops but never the bloody keys to open the bloody chests.

WTF?!?

Anyway, just little things like that.

One can wander aimlessly within the void, or light a candle against the darkness.

You're actually advising Poppy to play with fire?

Wait wait!

 :pop:

Okay... go.

And someone buy Vitriol some Steam games, why is he playing games older than TWAP?

That's always been my approach to gaming... find something I like then play it 'til the wheels fall off.

There have been a few games I only played briefly but mostly it's been this:

Diablo / Diablo2 / Guild Wars / Guild Wars 2

Since I'm just a casual player and sometimes go days/weeks/longer without launching a game it works for me.

I like the scene where Flea chases Poppy around in the dark with night vision and a strap-on.  They're only gay if they don't scream.

In one of those gameplay clips I thought I heard Poppy refer to his Cuphead character as "my Precious".

I figured he was making a LotR reference but now I'm not so sure...

Benzo's sidekick with another "you gay" lame.

To be fair when I see "Buffalo Bill" I don't think "gay", I think "peel off your skin and wear it as a vest".

Completely different vibes.
