It <ahem> wasn't just young people (I have the tshirts to prove it) in 2016 and he actually put on a master class in being performative. Not taking corporate donations, staying on message with M4A etc., and even though he never went for the throat just the fact that he was willing to run against Hillary went a long way toward giving people a sense of hope that the duopoly could be beaten.

Then of course he abandoned the movement that had grown around his messaging, bent the knee to Hillary and the DNC, turned his "base" into a resource to be extracted by the democrats, and became as useless as the rest of 'em in D.C.

But at first the energy and the momentum were real and rallied around the issues themselves; Bernie was just the only guy in mainstream politics to be making those kinds of noises. Corporate media never stops pushing the idea that voters must choose between red shit or blue shit and here's a guy on team blue saying all the right things; of course he was going to get traction in a revolution-minded political cycle.

It's the people who still tried/try to put him on a pedestal after he utterly caved to the DNC who are deluded and cultish.

Although 'Murica has been weaponizing the dollar for a while now it's only been recently that we've seen direct actions by other nations to remove themselves from 'Murican/western financial systems and abandon the dollar as a reserve currency. That is entirely due to 'Murica's doubling and tripling down on using sanctions, tariffs, asset seizures, etc. as a form of economic warfare and market manipulation.

Our own policies necessitated the rise of BRICS which has yet to really flex its economic impact but has already resulted in a growing number of trades, including for fossil fuels, being paid for in a currency other than the dollar.

Showing data from *before* a massive shift away from the weaponized dollar and saying it proves anything is like showing a photo taken inside a plane just before it crashes and claiming it proves the plane is still flying.

Instead of respecting our position is issuer of the world's reserve currency and using that position to promote growth, stability, and social advancements we've exploited the position to our own benefit at the expense of the rest of the planet; actually propping up dictatorships, monarchies, and all manner of corrupt vassal states.

It won't have the intended effect but will intensify the distrust and enmity that 'Murica has already earned.
