FA/FO I suppose.
I don't know anything about the "impossible whopper." Margarine is a butter substitute. It's processed just like meat substitutes.

Almost half of American families don't have a dedicated retirement savings account, according to the Federal Reserve's 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances. The survey, which includes the latest government data, reveals only 54.4% of American families reported having dedicated retirement accounts such as a 401(k) or IRA.

While it's possible they may be saving for retirement outside of these accounts, few survey respondents reported having other investments. For instance, only 1.1% directly hold bonds and only 21% directly hold stocks.

Many Americans relying solely on Social Security benefits to carry them through their golden years may be in for a rude awakening. The average benefit for a retired worker is $1,907 a month, according to the Social Security Administration, which works out to $22,884 per year. This isn't far above the 2022 poverty threshold of $17,710 for a person over 65 in a two-person household, per Census Bureau data.

The Supreme Court refused on May 13 to take up the case of app developers who accuse Apple of antitrust violations for refusing to make COVID-19 tracking and bitcoin apps available in the company's App Store.

App makers had sued Apple, claiming the Silicon Valley giant had violated antitrust laws and that its refusal to allow its apps constituted censorship, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit rejected the lawsuit late last year.

The petition for certiorari, or review, in Coronavirus Reporter v. Apple Inc. was denied in an unsigned order. No justices dissented from the denial.

corruption - how else does a guy who spent 50 years in politics at an average salary of 150 - 200,000 year become a multi millionaire

Ukraine probably has one or two sites with defensive positions which have US provided gear and embedded media stooges to keep the charade going for their lemming base

The Biden family is too closely connected to that country and it's regime. They have a vested interest in keeping this war going despite the cost to American taxpayers and blood of Ukrainians and Russians.

Quote from: Oerdin on Today at 03:42:45 AMCalifornia's gas tax already goes up every year automatically as it is indexed to inflation.  Yet Democrats have so over spent there is now a $65 billion budget deficit and $24 billion in unemployment funds are "unaccounted for" meaning stole by fraud.  Now, Democrats could seriously reduce spending to balance the budget but instead they want to raise taxes which are already the highest in the nation.

They are pushing a new $0.50 per gallon gas tax on top of the existing  $0.511 state gas tax and the federal $0.184 gas tax.  Of course, lying Democrats say "it is to fight climate change" when all it will do is feed inflation and make life still more unaffordable
Twenty four billion dollars unaccounted for?????

Raising taxes will only speed up the departure of people in the middle from the Golden State.

I have read that several top Ukrainian generals want Zelensky to negotiate a surrender treaty wih Moscow. The outspoken military leaders have been dismissed, jailed or are in exile.

A massive crowd attended the campaign rally for former President Donald Trump on Saturday in the deep blue state of New Jersey. In the nearly 90-minute campaign event in Wildwood, Trump touched on President Joe Biden's policies, his "show trials," pro-Palestinian campus protests, the state of the economy, and the border crisis.

The event marked Trump's return to Wildwood for his first campaign rally in the south Jersey Shore town since his 2020 re-election bid. Some Trump supporters started lining up on the boardwalk on Wednesday night in anticipation of Saturday's rally.

Lisa Fagan – spokesperson for the city of Wildwood, N.J. – told the Associated Press that she estimated the attendance at the rally to be between 80,000 and 100,000 people, based on her own observations of having seen "dozens" of other events in the same space.

Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano, a Republican, said the Trump rally is a boon for the town.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum warmed up the crowd ahead of Trump speaking at the rally. Burgum is reportedly on Trump's short list of vice president candidates.

NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor also spoke at the Trump rally.

Trump took aim at Biden – calling the Democratic president "a total moron."

"He's a fool. He's not a smart man," Trump said of Biden.

Trump claimed that Biden is "surrounded by fascists."

Trump told the huge crowd that "the gloves are off" because he blames Biden for his indictments, including his ongoing hush money criminal trial in New York City.

"I talk about him differently now because now the gloves are off. He's a bad guy, should've never done that because it's so bad for our country," he said of Biden.

Trump vowed, "Instead of a Biden tax hike, I'll give you a Trump middle class, upper class, lower class, business class big tax cut. You're going to have the biggest tax cut."

The last time a Republican presidential candidate won New Jersey was in 1988 – when Republican Vice President George H. W. Bush defeated Michael Dukakis.

The Biden administration's open-border policies have fueled a staggering increase in illegal immigration at the northern and southern borders. New research indicates that an increasing number of these illegal immigrants do not come originally from Mexico or countries farther South, but rather from Asia.

Customs and Border Protection officials have been reporting massive increases in Chinese nationals attempting to illegally enter the country, particularly since late 2023.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported earlier this year that the White House relaxed the interview vetting process for Chinese nationals who have illegally crossed the border, further fast-tracking their entry into the country.

In December, NewsNation captured a video in Jacumba Hot Springs, California, showing a massive caravan of Chinese nationals who had crossed the border illegally.

Florida's governor has shown with his new ban on lab-grown meat that he only trusts consumers and freedom of choice so long as it doesn't disrupt the status quo
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will not live in the pod, and he will not eat the bugs. In fact, he will make sure no one in Florida ever does — even if they want to.

Last week, the governor signed SB 1084, making Florida the first U.S. state to ban "lab-grown meat" for consumers. Despite a fresh federal seal of approval for the chicken variety of cultivated meat, DeSantis has taken it upon himself to remove the consumer's choice for these meat alternatives in the name of combating the "globalists" of the World Economic Forum.

ctim nine times.
Disturbing video shows the moment a Texas transgender suspect repeatedly mowed down a man in Houston before kissing him and stabbing him. Law enforcement has said the footage is some of the most horrifying video they have ever seen.

The transgender suspect – 20-year-old Karon Fisher – was arrested and charged with murder, evading arrest with a vehicle, and assaulting hospital personnel. Fisher was being held on a $2 million bond.

Steven Anderson, 64, was on his way to pick up the mail in his Houston neighborhood on May 3. Suddenly, a white sports car is speeding down the residential street straight at Anderson. The Dodge Challenger slams into Anderson at a high rate of speed.

Surveillance video shows Fisher put the car in reverse and run over Anderson, causing his body to move several feet.

The Biden administration's National Labor Relations Board recently adopted a new and ideologically charged standard on joint employment. This new joint-employer rule, which threatens to create uncertainty and multiple new burdens for employers who contract out part of their work, is currently mired in litigation.

Biden's veto represents a significant policy shift that will adversely affect the business landscape, particularly in a time when economic stability is paramount. This veto not only rejects clear bipartisan legislative action but also imposes additional burdens on businesses already navigating a challenging economic environment.

The NLRB's revised joint employer standard notably lowers the threshold for determining when two businesses are considered joint employers. Under the previous administration, the standard required that a company must have "direct and immediate" control over the terms and conditions of employment to be considered a joint employer.

The new rule broadens this definition, allowing a business to be deemed a joint employer even if it has only indirect influence over the employment conditions of another company's workers. The old standard provided clarity and stability for businesses engaging with contractors and franchisees, but the new standard seems to create ambiguity on purpose.

What does Biden have to gain from all of this? Union votes. But how many votes will he lose if this new rule dampens the economic recovery in an election year?

The veto will have significant implications. First, the new joint employer standard will certainly lead to increased litigation, as the boundaries of "indirect" and "potential" control are tested in courts. The resulting legal uncertainty will burden businesses with additional costs and discourage the formation of beneficial business relationships, particularly in sectors like franchising and contracting, where such relationships are common.

As the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has pointed out, this rule change could "result in decreased business formation and growth, and create significant costs for both large and small companies."

Moreover, in an economy still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, the timing of such a regulatory shift seems particularly counterproductive. Businesses are currently facing a myriad of challenges, from supply-chain disruptions to inflationary pressures. The added uncertainty and potential liability under the new joint employer standard could hinder recovery efforts.
