Quote from: Brent on Today at 02:56:46 PMIn a thread about the Lac Megantic tragedy, Blurt was repeating some CBC commentary by one of their prog fools who knows nothing about the industry that I worked in for thirty four years.
I explained exactly how it happened. The hoghead did not apply the legally required nuumber of handbrakes to hold the train on that grade. But, expert Blurt insisted the train rolled down the hill because the engineer was overworked an tired.
Ok... I believe you.
But you probably still don't believe that my diesel train driving mate and his coworker got me on their ride up north for 10 hours and handed over the controls (while keeping a watchful eye and interjecting where required) so that I'd have the best chance of scoring an apprenticeship with the company they worked for and I had applied to.
The start was all about signaling, classroom, and such... about 18 months later, I would have been OK to pilot with others. There was a real shortage at the time.
But the interview after went sideways. They had woke questions before woke was a known thing.
I completely buggered it up... but everyone in it laughed their arses off together.
"How do you feel about working with women because we have a number of them?"
Me: I love working with, up close, and against women. I love the wimmins!
