Quote from: "Guest"I left it nine Septembers ago. People were still bugging me for spare change at the airport as I left. Anyone who tries to sell you the reason Batman must be Chinese because he's rich obviously never spent any time in Vancouver.

It's disgraceful what happened to Vancouver.  I was born there actually (St. Paul's), but one knows when it is time to go...

Vancouver only works now for those that are extremely rich, or extremely poor.

Quote from: "Guest"The lack of freeways in vancouver is ridiculous how do you get from hwy 99 to hwy 1 without spending an hour in city street traffic? At least calgary and Edmonton have ring roads

Traffic is one of the reasons I left that shithole last October...

Imagine how easy it would be to move from one town to the next if we had big, straight roads..

I mean well lit, 3 lane each direction roads that dont have any curves..

Our roads are primitive dirt roads when compared to the central-european road-network.

When I become the president, I will build one big road through the entire length of Finland...

And then have all cities and people moved on the side of the road.

Quote from: "Fashionista"Than it must be more in Vancouver.

They have $0.10 more to pay than I do now (GVRD taxes), but I think they're still around the dollar mark perhaps?

They have a local gasoline tax I believe..

I always take public transit when I'm in Vancouver..

SC let's me ride his bus for free.

I like Esso. They take PC Optimum points which I collect. Some of them have a touchless carwash. My car is nice and clean.

Quote from: "Fashionista"You prefer self serve Odi?

I do.  If someone can't fuel up their own car, they shouldn't be driving!

On a related note, Richmond and Coquitlam both have bylaws in place stating that an attendant must pump your gas for you, although that requirement is loosely observed.  It stems back to decades ago, about preserving jobs, and has nothing to do with safety.

Oddly enough, the Taghum Shell here in the Koots is still full serve.  I was taken by surprise when they started filling up my truck!  I think that's the only one in the entire region that does that here though...

The old pumps... You had to pump the gas into a glass tank on top of the pump..

Just so you know how much you are putting in.

I understand why there was a need for the pump supervisor..
