It still ranks as the best non-text contribution I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, and you were doing flame podcasts (when the portmanteau was relevant) ahead of their time, albeit in a much more streamlined package than the recent offerings (entertaining as they are).
To be the subject of something that took that much effort was not lost on me.
Others did not take well to being in the song spotlight, however...
I still remember balking at the Distorted Views chart topper being dumpstered, an error, if I recall, that was corrected soon after.
Ahhh, that was practically assured though. Danger and Doomsday were all about giving that 21 Flame Salute to rival site owner Ruthless1 under the auspices of his being a flaming giant. Really it was just to rub the Flame4Cash rank and file's noses in it, there being an intense and abiding antipathy between the two site's and not even ladr's warning that BH were leaving themselves open to a similar state of affairs could stop the BH site owners from sticking the knife in.
Howard and I bashed that track out in about 4 hours using the cheesiest equipment imaginable. I tried singing my part straight at first, but couldn't quite get the Eddie Cochrane gravel going. So for shits and giggles I did the teenager going through puberty take which you heard. Totally off the wall, especially when it came to the anal sex coda. Ernie would have smiled. Katie and Terry.... not so much. Well hell... people who live in glass houses should draw the blinds before removing their trousers (as Spike Milligan once remarked). If Danger and Doomsday had truly believed in honouring the fallen through flame, it wouldn't have been an issue, but it clearly was and I knpw Howard and I weren't the only ones getting a chuckle out of the heavy handed reaction.
Yours took a little longer, I spent 80 minutes alone constructing the gruntfest sequence following the line "lets her johns all bugger me" before I was happy with the result and ideally I ought have worked a little harder on my vocal take overall. I've still got the session takes for it and if I'm feeling froggy I might try a better mix of it sometime, but probably not before I finish wrestling with my Dopeman songflame. That's going to require the sorts of effort I put into the podcasts you mentioned... and those were punishing. Four minutes to hear, over six hours to produce, most of it slicing out breaths and pauses.
Above all, it was fun to do, and all the more so when it was received in the spirit it was attempted.

Ahhh good. We have a history dating back to BH's earliest years... long discussions over the merits and disadvantages of American political party members that would drag on for ages. We were both pretty naïve in retrospect, but I certainly enjoyed bouncing ideas off him and questioning his own. And there was the whole Gimpfighters Forum raid thing (or whatever Yoyo was calling his forum at the time) where Boney handed admin access out to half a dozen of us... fuck, did we have fun there.
We did have our flaming set-to's after that, I think in part because he was a little more pliable by BH co-owner Danger than I was. Those were fun too, though I was always a little nervous I might have been going a bit too far with some of it and necessarily pulled my punches here and there. Any reservations I had were well and truly put to rest when I dropped the songflame "She Blinded Us With Scissors" (a rehash of Thomas Dolby's "She Blinded Me With Science") and was told by him that he found it amusing.... which of course was the whole point. Flaming the crap out of others only really happens when you can get them laughing their guts up over the insults you've said.
He has the ability to laugh at himself and that is key. I've got a lot of time for that guy.

At the end it was being run more or less by females and stank worse than one of their public urinals. Brawl Hall lost its charm about 4 years before Martini and co arrived. Only Bricktop, Sir Super Southern, Ceedub, Dinky and myself are qualified to speak on its heyday, and anyone else pretending to do so in our stead is simply bullshitting.
And no, none of us are interested in rebooting it. Only people I see trtying to reboot anything is the BH in its Crash & Burn phase, which is probably why they keep failing at it.

I wish I had seen BH..
I've heard so much about it from Bricktop and others.
I went to Brawl Hall once and only once. But what an experience it was!
I actually followed Rotwang there to see what the old codger was up to.
Do you remember, Fash, in the early days of the ACC, when Rotwang was threatening a hostile takeover of your forum? He kept promising that he was going to go recruit his BH mates to participate in a balls-to-the-wall raid of the ACC?
Well, I tracked him down over there and found the recruitment thread in question. It was absolutely hilarious, I swear! They all brushed him off, telling him to grow the eff up. They all had families now, they said, and weren't inclined to participate in his poofery.
I guess ol' Rotty eventually got his wish, though, by tunneling up to you lot from below, so to speak. Once he burst through the ground, he dropped a force field over the ACC, just like the aliens did in
While I was at Brawl Hall, I poked around. I was underwhelmed, to say the least.
