Quote from: Dove on February 17, 2025, 05:51:10 PMThe Constitutional Republic I live in allows for everyone to have a voice. We have the electoral college and a whole host of checks and balances to make sure everyone is represented... It also frustrates me how many people don't understand that the United States is exactly that.Your education system is fucked up and not fit for purpose. I think you know that, or you wouldn't be putting in the hard yards to homeschool Squish to the best of your ability. The most astounding aspect of it all would be the pretense that if everyone simply threw more money at the problem, it would be resolved.
Quote from: Herman on February 16, 2025, 07:21:19 PMDemocracy is fifty one percent of the population can screw over the other forty nine. A constitutional republic are guaranteed rights that cannot be taken away by fifty one percent of the population. So ya, you folks have a superior system.I heard it described thusly; a democracy is two wolves and a sheep sitting down to decide what's for dinner. A constitutional republic is the same two wolves and a sheep sitting down to decide what is for dinner, only the sheep is armed.
Quote from: Reggie Essent on February 16, 2025, 12:43:35 PMYou foreigners should learn to speak American!I can speak, read and write it fluently. I just choose not to in most cases. When confronted with the choice of a language rich in expressivity and its simplified knockoff, I prefer to rise to the challenge and exercise my grey matter.
Quote from: Renegade Quark on February 19, 2025, 12:51:59 AMSurely you jest.Of course. His country's dictator froze bank accounts of peaceful protestors. He wanted to use tanks on them.

Quote from: Dove on February 17, 2025, 05:51:10 PMI don't get why so many people blather about democracy. "A danger to our democracy!".....no shit and GOOD. We want our republic back in order.
Quote from: Dove on February 17, 2025, 05:51:10 PMYes. I compare it to gang rape. The will of the majority forced upon the minority.Canada was meant to be a loose confederation too. Both Trudeau prime ministers have trampled on provincial jurisdiction.

It's the most unique country on the planet. It's brilliant and beautiful and i love my country and my state.
We are not and never were a democracy. We have democratic elements but we are a republic.

It also frustrates me how many people don't understand that the United States is exactly that. States that are United. Each state has its own government, it's own culture, it's own thing going on. The states are broken up into districts that allow for everyone to get a vote and a voice in how their state is ran. Each district has a representative that the people elect. And so on.
The federal government is not there to flex authority over the states. The left and democrats want that power over each state and it's chilling how much support that gets.

Quote from: . on February 16, 2025, 02:15:50 AMThat's how you spell it in the lion's share of the english speaking western world. I find it amusing that a citizen of a country which boasts an illiteracy rate of fully one third of its eighth grade students would be attempting to correct the spelling otherwise.
