Earlier this year, the federal government loaned Canada Post $1.034 billion — a substantial sum of taxpayer money — to help keep the organization afloat.

As a Crown corporation, Canada Post operates at the behest of the federal government and faces little competition in the postal market. Canadians have nowhere to turn if they're unhappy with service quality, prices or delivery times, particularly when it comes to "snail mail."

Consequently, given its near-monopoly over the postal market, Canada Post has few incentives to keep costs down or become profitable because the government (i.e. taxpayers) is there to bail it out. The lack of competition also means Canada Post lacks incentives to innovate and improve service quality for customers, and the near-monopoly prohibits other potential service providers from entering the letter-delivery market including in remote areas. It's clearly a failing business that's unresponsive to customer needs, lacks creativity and continuously fails to generate profit.

What would happen if Ottawa privatized Canada Post?

Well, peer countries including the Netherlands, Austria and Germany privatized their postal services two decades ago. Prices for consumers (adjusted for inflation) fell by 11% in Austria, 15% in the Netherlands and 17% in Germany.

Denmark has taken it a step further and plans to end letter deliveries altogether. The country has seen a steep 90% drop in letter volumes since 2000 due to the rise of global e-commerce and online shopping. In other words, the Danes are adapting to the times rather than continuing to operate an archaic business model.

While you can't afford food, Mark Carney spent $8.2 million tax dollars on gender-just, low-carbon rice in Vietnam.

Can you really afford your Prime Minister?

How many times have you heard the CBC say debt interest charges cost you more than $1 billion every week?

Probably never.

Have you heard any media pundits talk about the government spending $100,000 studying the life of a grocery cart?

Probably not.

Ottawa is sending millions into Gaza under the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives. When Parliament asked who is getting the money, Anand hid behind "confidentiality." That's not transparency — that's stonewalling.

Canadians have a right to know where their tax dollars are going. If disclosure risks partners, then at minimum, Parliament must see the full list in-camera, and independent auditors must be allowed to verify the spending. No more blank cheques.

Canada wants to send troops to Ukraine. SOLUTION: Send the men who came to Canada from Ukraine and they can fight for their country.
Not Canadians' problem nor should they be paying billions for it.

Corporate welfare costs the average Canadian family more than $1,100 a year.

These companies should be getting their money from investors and selling products, not by seeking special treatment from the feds.

Canada is sooooooo fucking corrupt. Every spending program that the Liberals have rolled out since 2015 from child care to infrastructure to dental care has seen Liberal Party consultants receive the lion's share of taxpayer dollars.

You know the Governor General bleeds taxpayers. Here is just a few examples of those lavish perks.

The latest revelations make the waste impossible to ignore.

The Governor General stuck you with the bill for $1,117 for shoes, $875 for a blazer and $165 for a silk camisole.

As if that weren't enough, she also takes home a $378,000 salary, along with a taxpayer-funded mansion, full staff, lavish travel privileges and even a lifetime expense account. And every cent comes from your pockets.

Canadians struggling with the cost of living shouldn't be forced to bankroll a ceremonial figurehead's luxury wardrobe. It's completely out of touch.
