Quote from: "Odinson"I have a silver pocket watch from WW2..

Standard german army pocket watch.. My grandfathers watch.

I´m thinking its quite valuable considering that it is very fine silver and there is relatively a lot of it..

Then there is the historic value... Collectors want this pocket watch.

I don't really have much for collector's items. Some old one dollars bills that have been laminated. Also a 45 year old painting by a semi famous native artist.

Only Canadians involved. I only need thank my mom

That coin set isn't worth shit.

True.

But the gold content is over 1/2 of pure gold.

Without the gold piece its about $45 cdn

Anyways I just bought the set for its looks.

Theres others that interested me like the 1914 $5 gold coin.

If you want book value its worth more.

I think 1967 is a known set because the artist was Robert Bateman, a famous Canadian Wildlife painter.

The bust of the Queen was someine named Mackin.

So from an artistic standpoint its quite superior & the quality of workmanship was immaculate just like a German tradesman, Mel!

If it were released today would be a lot more expensive to producw in those materials and the way the dies struck the coins. Double struck whereas today just one strike.

Anyways cc, gold is sure to go up more in the coming recession.

I stated on many occasions here & in other forums that the old Canadian coins were of the highest quality. Perhaps the best ever made anywhere.

Also, incidence of counterfeiting was/is low.

Many gold coins from out of China foreistance have been labled as fakes.

Some with lead centers & gold wrapping on them.

At least with Canadian stuff you're most likely to get the real thing if purchased in Canada.

....a 1967 Canada Gold Coin Confederation Coin Set.

Which sells for $1,399 USD these days. Thats like over $2,000 Canadian now.

I call the Gold piece, "The Jewel in the Crown"

It was bought completely with US money given away freely as tips by generous American Tourists.

Anyways, Thanks Americans! Thanks Texas! Thanks Georgia! Thanks Louisiana! Thanks Tennessee! Thanks Florida! Thank you South Carolina!

Hurrah for the Confederacy! Down with General Grant!

An'thanks to mah buddih Kahbuzz!

Yo free money made it all possible!

Otherwise I could never have afforded it.

At least I have something to show for the Good Times unlike those who had their stock portfolios wiped out by the Crash & Recession.

So when in doubt folks, always buy Gold, eh?
