To quit smoking, I used the nicotine aids which worked this time. Better than previous goes where I used patches. Patches irritate the skin, Champax gave me a projectile vomiting session from a migraine headache, and the gum when it first came out was SOOOOOO expensive it was ridiculous.

I quit smoking three years ago after twenty seven years of a cigarette habit. I used Nicorette gum for the first three months after i quit smoking.

You did good SB. Well done.

Not sure where you'd get that idea from,

Well where else do you think I get it from, my imagination? I get info from the news of course... this is why it's a good idea to watch prime time news.

And would that be the same news that has had a boner for Trump and his Russian connection these last three years? The same news that went batshit over everything from his early travel bans to China at a time when everyone from Pelosi to the WHO were encouraging us to fondle Chinamen in the streets so we didn't piss them off over trade agreements and who are now complaining bitterly he didn't act quickly enough now that the economy is approaching standstill? The same news that couldn't stop ranting about the whole "grab them by the pussy" quote and other assorted #metoo and #believeher monstrosities, yet fell infamously silent when accusations of a certain democrat fingering the hired help in between groping teenages, sniffing their haircuts and having his leg hairs fondled at the local pool? THAT media?

I do beg your pardon, I had no idea they had suddenly become such independent experts in the medical field.  :laugh3:

Quote from: "caskur"The condition that can cause death is "wet lung."

Riiiiight, but you can also get that from getting pregnant. Matter of fact you can  probably get it from hanging about saunas too. I'm sure I'd have seen an independent clinical report on the prevalence of this "wet lung" among the vaping community, but I've only really been paying attention to this for the last eight years and I can truthfully say I've not encountered anything of the kind and would expect that if it were something approaching the seriousness (talking relative terms here) of the Vitamin E debacle of last year then moneyed interests in the tobacco lobby would have been pushing to have it banned years ago.

Do feel free to provide me with links to any such studies though. Just do us both a favour and try remembering the ingredients list I provided you with earlier when sourcing your material and for heavens sake save your WAPO subsidiary links for someone who is blissfully unaware of just how biased Newspeke's parent company is. I will happily consider links from respected medical journal backed links over the 30 second grabs from companies that have yet to buy themselves out from under the court cases leveled against them for the Covington Kids scandal for instance, the former at least have reputedly the time to research their findings while the latter are known for grabbing headlines where they can and often not even bothering to issue a retraction when they've provably got it wrong.

I'll be sure to raise it with my GP at my next physical. My lung capacity has shown marked improvement over the last eight years, so do forgive my hearty scoffing at some wet lunged teenaged outlier who couldn't keep their shit together for three weeks.

Quote from: "caskur"Wet lung can be fatal.

I'm sure it can. So can crossing the street, but we do it readily enough and few of us suffer ill effects for it. Something else we are currently being told which can be fatal is Coronavirus, we're told we need to isolate ourselves, only essential trips, stay away from each other, wash your hands etc, stay home rah rah. And yes, people are dying from it, in much higher numbers than vaping I understand.

Which is all well and good. All but essential services shuttered, so we can keep ourselves hale and healthy... while literally up  the end of my street there are construction workers merrily blasting away at earthworks, bout so much as a single particle filter or N-95 mask in sight on some 40 or 50 storey construction project with precisely fuck all of a nod of the head to bylaws that forbid any structure above 20 storeys, never mind a government mandated lockdown of non-essential services. Talk about nothing standing in the way of progress!

And I dunno about you, but from where I sit as the reverberations of those blasts rattle my windows, I find myself asking... are things really as dire as our media would have us believe, or are we simply being fed a never ending line of convenient propaganda aimed less at what is "good for us" and more at what is "good for someone else". I give more of a fuck about you than they do - that ought to tell you something. I've at least expressed my congratulations to you at having beaten your addiction.

Quote from: "caskur"Anyway doing the lozenge thing effected my teeth... so while it was is a great aid to helping me stop smoking, I got adicted to the lozenge. I withdrew from them 2 years ago. You're only supposed to be on them for 3 months. I was on them for 4 years.

Yeah well, as I said earlier, there's a school of though that says a nicotine habit is harder to beat than heroin. And given the availability of tobacco products and their abiding prevalence in today's society, it's not like you can go far without encountering them in your daily life.

Just so you know, that Newspeke link above? The two chemicals they mentioned in that 30 second grab are not just available in inappropriately prepared e-juices, they are also found in pretty much every cigarette you care to name, though I don't pretend to know in what quantity they are present. What I do know is that properly prepared tobacco does not contain them any more than properly prepared e-juice does.

100 bucks give or take for 50g of roll your own... Drum is about 104-105...

A total government money grab...

Absolutely. It costs the tobacco companies around a cent per cigarette in production costs. Working from that, smokers are being taxed more massively for their habit than they would be if they chose to purchase a Bugatti penis extension instead and it makes me laugh when I hear health nuts banging on about the cost to the community that smokers represent. The truth is, that cost has already been paid... many times over in fact.

It's just the funds were stolen by the very people who regulate the industry. You should see the penalties they apply to your lot if you get caught dealing in tobacco out your way... far cheaper in terms of penalty to be caught with kilo of hash-hish than it is a kilo of chop-chop.

Right you are brother. Sin taxes are a cash cow for governments.

It all is.
