Quote from: "seoulbro"I was thinking about taking a transfer out to Calgary many years ago. I went out there to check it out. I made it to the BC border, but I never went to SE BC. Now I wish I stayed another four or five days and went there.

You should have traveled further.  Alberta is lucky we let them keep Banff...

The Dam is still there.  You used to work there?  Went in for a burger a couple months back or so.  Was acceptable pub fare.

Now they only do take-out or delivery, and only between 16:00 and 20:00, 'cause virus...

Quote from: "Berry Sweet"If you drive north it's fun, beautiful....you will eventually see the big nipple, stop in winlaw.. for some food and doobie.

You know the bridge by the Shell gas station in Crescent Valley...I googled and apparently it's an Esso now....anyhow that bridge did not go thru straight at one point...you had to slow down quite a bit cause it was a sharp s curve.  There's  also Crescent Beach right there, pretty popular in the summer.

There use to be a local and organic market across the street...I stopped there quite a bit...I don't  think its  there anymore?  And there's also "heartbreak hotel", the apartments next door.  If you keep driving you get to the junction, there should be a bank there...at one point there was a subway and make your own booze joint.  Take a left at the lights and drive for maybe 3 min, you get to the Dam Inn...have a beer and some bar food....if you keep going...you will hit Nelson.  I use to work there.

You seem to know the area well enough...

The organic market is still there.  There's a cafe/restaurant and a Canada Post office in there also.  The apartments are still there, looking like they probably have for the last 50 years.  It's a very weird place to build a building like that, considering the everywhere around it is large properties.

The bank at junction is there.  Subway is gone.  Brew your own is gone also, I think.

I have seen people riding bicycles on snowy streets in Calgary and I wonder how they can stay on two wheels..

And they must be very cold.

I believe it IHJ, and they are probably ignorant enough to hand out fines at times like that cause cyclist are not "in the bike lanes"....that are obviously covered in snow.  So winning...

Winnipeg is a frozen wasteland six months of the year, but our prog city council is wasting money on bike lanes.

I swear these people are daft.  I mean c'mon....a lot of people who work in the dt core work in offices, they dress up for work...do they really expect them to bike to work!?  Some of them come from the burbs....imagine ladies in skirts cycling to work, big streams of mascara running down their faces and big skid mark up their back from all the water...and in Winnipeg, their tires would freeze to the ground.  But oh yeah...put those fuckin bike lanes in  :001_rolleyes:

Ride a bike fifteen kms each in thirty below weather on icy roads. Makes sense to me.

Right!?  Just chain up  ac_lmfao

And wear a scarf.

But, I'm sure there are lots of nice places in his province of Ontario to see.

I've never been to Ontario, and I'd like to go...I'd actually like to go to Quebec, lots o see there...I hear the people are ignorant if you don't speak French...but I'd only go because I have family there and they would do all the talking for me lol
