Sir John A. Macdonald was a leader for the White man!  A leader for a great White nation!  He'd be spinning in his grave if he knew what's becoming of this place...

He was responsible for the CPR scandal and the Chinese Head Tax, but with that he was responding to the political will at the time..

His greatest legacy was unity, something the current pm doesn't understand.

Enjoy your day off if you get it today and not on Friday. I can find fewer reasons to celebrate Canada with each passing year.

All statues of John A MacDonald and any others featuring genocidal imperialist swine need to be destroyed.

"We have indeed created a great people and a great nation that is second to none."

And by that you mean the british empire, her majesty the Queen Elizabet II and her loyal subjects.

It's raining here today and along with COVID, it's a quiet Canada Day.

In February of 1865, the long and bloody American Civil War was drawing to a close. John A. Macdonald, an immigrant from Scotland, gave a prophetic speech where he challenged his audience to create 'a great people, and a great nationality' by supporting Confederation.

Forging an independent nation that was strong enough to withhold the continental pressure of the United States was a bold, if not a nearly impossible, task.

But Macdonald, along with Cartier, Brown, Galt and many others, set aside personal ambitions to overcome the fault lines of geography and politics by uniting British North American colonies into a nation with a future that was far from assured.

Over 150 years later, we can say with justifiable pride that we have lived up to Macdonald's challenge. We have indeed created a great people and a great nation that is second to none.

Happy Canada Day everyone.
