The USA became independent on July 4, 1776..
How is that inaccurate.
It's the perpetuation of the leftist idiot BLM narrative that US Independence was sparked by the need to protect the institution of slavery. Because after all, doesn't every issue facing the US boil down to racial injustice???
Nothing could be further from the truth as American Independence was born and fostered in New England. Even in 1776 the states of the North took an anti-slavery social and political stance...Up to and until the final days before the signing of the Declaration of Independence the states of the deep south were not on-board with the idea of Independence. The whole premise was viewed as rabble rousing straight out of Boston politics. It is a small wonder that the first shots of the revolution were fired on Lexington Green in Massachusetts.
Britain didn't abolish slavery until 1833. Independence from Britain in 1776 could not "protect the institution of slavery."

Some are claiming because there were slaves then, blacks were not independent so date is invalid
While desperately trying to make "everything about them", fact is "independent" is not a people thing ... it's a country thing
Country, and every person in it, officially became "independent of British rule" on that date .. end of story
