The president did admit he downplayed the seriousness of it when addressing the public.
As seolbro mentioned, MSM personalities tried to push the narrative that Trump thought the pandemic was a hoax and not taking it seriously enough, and then once the woodawrd interview surfaced, they are accusing him of hiding the severity of the pandemic. that later narrative kind of fizzled out and was backfiring a bit once the nancy pelosi videos starting circulating. the one with her in he salon, and the other back in february when the dnc was calling for people to go down to chinatown and stuff.
It has ben a gigantic mess from start to finmish for them.
Even CNN acknowledged Trump never said the coronavirus is a hoax.
