Paul Begala said the Democrats have gone from being the party of the factory floor to the party of the faculty lounge. That is true of my former party, the NDP too. Any unionized blue collar worker who votes Democrat in the States or NDP in Canada needs their head examined.

I was not a fan of the Republicans either until Trump turned it into a working class party.

Same. And a lot others as well. People who used to vote for democrats.

I hated the Bush family and I couldn't stand watching that war mongering stooge for military contractors, John McCain. Mitt Romney belongs in tbe democRAT party too. He is an elitist prick.

Yep! I didnt even vote in 2012. I had voted Obama in 2008.....I had so much regret for that. So in 2012....I didnt even bother.

The Libertarian Party elected a weak candidate too in 2012.

I would have voted Obama in 2008 because I hated McCain and I had enough of the Bush family. I would not have voted for either candidate in 2012.

 Same here.

And yes it has been hijacked.  It's literally the opposite of liberalism now. And the hate it fosters is scary.

I wince when I hear about people who cancel others being labelled liberals. There is another guy that posts here, iron horse jockey who calls himself a traditional socialistst. He has the same complaint about socialism and union leadership being hijacked by people with an agenda that does not include the bluc collar working class.

He join the growing list of more sensible leftists who get labeled "cons" because they dont agree with the authoritarian cult dogma so many have fallen in line with.

It's so deeply divisive, isnt it?  There are still people AFRAID to speak their minds. That's always bad news.

I consider myself a clissical liberal. Liberalism has been hijacked by people with views antithetical to liberalism. I haven't changed, liberalism has.

There is no "rivalry".

This is more a politcal thing. Left leaners hate America and the principles of liberty we value and defend here. So if you run in left leaning circles ....you see alot of anti American sentiment.

The rest of us are good though and get along quite well. People who are authentic, classical liberals, conservatives and Republicans get along and foster unity even with small differences.

That's probably why it looks so black and white to so many on the left end. Leftism has gone so radical they believe everyone normal thinks like them and only bigoted and evil "cons" oppose them.

So that's why you would see hostility towards America from just some people or those in your preferred circles.....but not so much here among those not radical left.

Conservatives in Canada are actually liberals.

Besides the weather and the food, what  I also miss about Israel is a real political spectrum. Canada doesn't have a vibrant right wing. America barely has that. Trump would not be considered a rightist in Israel.

Yeah here in America conservatives are the liberals. Pretty much the whole right end of the spectrum and even probably have the centrists are called "cons" now and that covers everyone who isnt lock step with the modern left.

The left has become the authoritarian establishment shill party.

I aint ever considered myself a conservative in the way the Seoul brother is with his support of free trade, and minimal government. My old man was a Tommy Douglas supporter. But, I will vote Conservative in the next election. The Liberal and NDP parties have thrown working folks under the frickin bus.

I hate the term liberal. It seems so secular. I would like to think that I lean both ways in certain aspects. And the conservative approach...the same. If it avoids stupidity, then a united nation can make progressive change. The old recipe sucks arse.

The term liberal today means the opposite of what liberalism is.

I can imagine. Liberals in Australia are actually conservatives. Some Americans battle with that concept.
