Apegirl will be lighting his hair on fire when gender mutilation of kids is illegal again in Florida.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/desantis-makes-reporter-regret-concern-mongering-about-floridas-fight-to-save-kids-from-sex-changes?utm_source=theblaze-breaking&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20240613ActiveTrending&utm_term=ACTIVE%20LIST%20-%207%20Day%20Engagement&tpcc=email-breaking
Florida passed legislation in 2023 to protect children from the ravages of the sex-change regime. In addition to banning the execution of genital mutilations on minors and the prescription of sterilizing puberty blockers to children, the Sunshine State also made the provision of such transmogrifying procedures or drugs a felony.

The work by Republican lawmakers and Gov. Ron DeSantis to protect children was temporarily undone Tuesday by Robert Hinkle, a Clinton-nominated federal judge.

Hinkle claimed in his ruling that "gender identity is real" and argued that the provision of drugs long been used to chemically castrate sex offenders amounted to "proper treatment" — despite the growing understanding among medical professionals in the West that so-called gender-affirming care is a barbaric and unscientific practice whose victims rarely if ever can provide proper consent.

Hinkle's arguments were reminiscent of those made by fellow Clinton Judge B. Lynn Winmill, who in December prevented Idaho's ban on child sex changes from going into effect. Winmill, whose decision was reversed by the U.S. Supreme Court, cited as legitimate the guidelines provided by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, which was exposed earlier this year in leaked internal documents as a purveyor of destructive pseudoscience.

When Gov. DeSantis made clear that Florida would appeal the decision, a reporter concern-mongered about the potential cost of the appeal.

The reporter said, "Your office told us that you plan to appeal the gender-affirming ruling from yesterday. So my question ... since we're talking about the budget of taxpayer dollars, why should taxpayer dollars go to this case for the appeal?"

DeSantis did not mince words in his reply.

"Because it's wrong to mutilate minors! It is wrong," said Gov. DeSantis. "It is wrong to perform a sex change on a 16-year-old. You're not allowed to get a tattoo but somehow you can have your privates cut off?"

"Give me a break," continued DeSantis. "This is wrong. And I would also say this has already been decided by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. They upheld Alabama's law, which was almost identical to Florida's law."

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Jan. 11 that Alabama's ban on adolescent sex change mutilations could remain in effect. The state's Republican Attorney General Steve Marshall said at the time, "This is a significant victory for our country, for children, and for common sense."

DeSantis stressed, "This will be reversed. There's no question it'll be reversed."

China wants to be number one and the US no longer does. Even if the they say they do, they don't mean it.

So, like Trump, I don't blame China for wanting to be number one. I blame past presidents plus the current one and every congress for letting it happen.

Quote from: Thiel on February 02, 2024, 10:06:42 PMA federal appeals court has issued a limited temporary block on a Florida law that bans citizens of China from buying property in the state that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said was needed to counteract the "malign influence" of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in his state.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals issued an order on Feb. 1 that temporarily halts enforcement of a law called SB 264, or the Interests of Foreign Countries Act, with respect to two out of five plaintiffs who sued Florida over the law, claiming unconstitutional discrimination.

SB 264 was signed by Mr. DeSantis on May 8, 2023, and it was almost immediately challenged in court by four Chinese citizens residing in Florida and a real estate brokerage firm primarily serving Chinese and Chinese American clients.

In a world where we see degeneracy abound, DeSantis has taken a bold stand.
Agreed, and agin he's done some amazing work in that regard. However keeping one state happy is far from pleasing fifty, or even a sizeable percentage thereof.

We'll see of course, but the way the aggregated polls are on the federal stage at the point of writing, voter ambivalence for a DeSantis ticket will all but assure the Democrats a plausible "victory" in 2024. Maga populist inclined voters will desert the republicans at the ballot box just as Bernie Bros deserted the democrats in 2016. Sure, you'll see a bunch of the DeSantis faithful on the couch if Trump is on the ticket, but in a party where Grove Cleveland Mk II is creaming the combined total of every other candidate vying for in-party support, the effect is practically marginal.

And this is based on the assumption some asshole doesn't invoke war powers and scotch the 2024 election entirely. I wouldn't put it past the bastards to be honest, just as I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn DeSantis's advisors are doing their level best to yoke him to the Elite wagon on a whole lot more besides taxation policy and free speech.

Quote from: Adolf Oliver Bush on October 27, 2023, 05:17:39 PMThe whole idea was to cause a messy primary. Well, they kind of got what they were after, but it didn't have the knock on effect of burying Trump that they expected. Quite the opposite in fact.

And you know what? I was okay with DeSantis, until the house bill he signed in Israel which already is being abused. His stated tax plan came later, but only cemented my opinion that he was not a guy anyone other than someone hellbent on kicking the US to the kerb would ever want to see as POTUS. That goes for overseas observers too; the US is effectively the standard by which other nations fiscal worth is measured. Crippling the US economy in the manner DeSantis has planned would likely be a precursor to cries to decouple from the greenback and hitch the wagons to an alternate economy like BRICS.

I don't relish the idea myself, hence why I would not vote for DeSantis. The guy has done some great things, it is true. But he's also telegraphed some incredibly irresponsible ones too, ones that have far wider reaching implications than some here would care to admit.

Where he fucked up was when he listened to his handlers and dipped his toe into "ORANGE MAN BAD" territory. He's fortunate it didnt affect his popularity in Florida much.
