Quote from: Frood on August 24, 2023, 05:45:09 AMI walked away from America in the mid 90's.

I would have preferred to live in a northern Midwest state, but they'd be the first ones to get nuked.

Florida wasn't an option.

It's a sea level sink hole.

I'd have been cool with either options just for myself, but I wanted children and I wanted my children to have children of their own...if they wanted them.

So I moved far away from the future devastation.

I'm not proud... I'm also not ashamed.

I'm a jettison pod who hates the veritable planet he's shot into.

Luckily... I don't hold superstitions about where I die or get buried.

My legacy is the way I raise my kids.... positives and negatives....

I grew up on MI dirt and in MI dirt I will rot.

 Fuck yeah.

Quote from: Lokmar on August 22, 2023, 10:41:51 PMSo did my sister in law! I'm a big fan of the area.

It was nice.  But the kids were getting school aged and the school sucked down there then.

The only thing I miss about Florida is the beach.  The rest of the State is kinda scabbie and the bugs never die in the winter.

Quote from: Biggie Smiles on August 11, 2023, 12:24:30 AMthat's why I stayed away from Orlando opting to go to the west coast of the state instead. I'm an hour north of tampa

yeah, people are moving down here in droves and raising the prices of everything. I purchased my home in 2019 for  435,000.00 today it's worth 1.2 million. Out of all the people I've met since being here about 2% are actually natural born Floridians

As a visitor, I see Floridas biggest negatives are the humidity and the population growth, especially in the Orlando Area. Its outpacing the infrastructure. The drivers suck and the traffic around I4, my kids call it Die 4, is atrocious from Tampa to Orlando. The traffic is just as bad from Jupiter to Miami. I've found that traffic around Clearwater up to  Hudson is comparatively good.

Hopefully, Florida wont become bogged down with libtards. Thats its biggest threat moving forward.

Florida is not without it's flaws

but is certainly the best out of the worst this country has to offer since the plague of the modern liberal took root

That sucks

I do a lot of work with people in Chicago and they are all telling me they've just about had it there and want out.

Is it really that bad over there?

I'm down by Springfield which is the capital. The disease from The Chicongo has infected Springfield and we have gangs starting to move in here now because the libtarded idea is to transplant young gang members here from Chicongo and put them into the local colleges non gratus. I've got a cop buddy who tells me stories about all the crime its caused. Salestax here is almost 11% just like the Chicongo. We pay 6K/yr property taxes on a $250K home. My daughter and son in law pay about $9K/YR on a 1 million dollar home in an Orlando burb.  $300K in the Chicago area buys you a roach infested shitbox with even higher taxes! Gas in Paducah, Ky was $3.27/gal while it was $3.89 in Springfield. I guarantee you its $4.50+ in Chicago and then only $3.50 or less in Pleasant Prairie WI just over the north border. The carjacking and bum problem are crazy in Chicago. Bums piss out in the open everywhere. It doesnt feel safe even in broad daylight. I know this because I'm there frequently for work. The people bitched about Beetledrank, then elected a fuckwad even more liberal than her!

I went to a gun store during our Florida trip and tried to buy a gun and was told they couldnt sell to me because Illinois has a law that doesnt allow gun sales to its citizens unless its in a border state....i.e. Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri.....now how in the fuck isnt that a major infringement on my civil rights? Illinois also taxes the fuck outta everything else too. Our fees to register a trailer are absurd. Its 1/3rd more to register a car here than it is in Florida. They had regular sales tax on cars even if you bought out of state. Thankfully, they reduced that a couple of years ago. We pay 1% to the city for car sales tax, even if purchased out of state.

Illinois is extra fuk'd because unlike California, the weather is shit. Why the fuck stay in Illinois if you dont have to?
