In Canada as well. Presidents Choice had tubs of it in the freezers in both Loblaws and Hartmans grocers right before I gave Ottawa the flick.

One does not simply mix their breakfast with dessert. Unless you're drinking milk that "tastes like homo", then it might represent somewhat of an improvement I imagine.

Bacon ice cream and nugget overload sees misfiring McDonald's AI withdrawn

McDonald's is removing artificial intelligence (AI) powered ordering technology from its drive-through restaurants in the US, after customers shared its comical mishaps online.

A trial of the system, which was developed by IBM and uses voice recognition software to process orders, was announced in 2019.

It has not proved entirely reliable, however, resulting in viral videos of bizarre misinterpreted orders ranging from bacon-topped ice cream to hundreds of dollars' worth of chicken nuggets.

In one video, which has 30,000 views on TikTok, a young woman becomes increasingly exasperated as she attempts to convince the AI that she wants a caramel ice cream, only for it to add multiple stacks of butter to her order.

In another, which has 360,000 views, a person claims that her order got confused with one being made by someone else, resulting in nine orders of tea being added to her bill.

Another popular video includes two people laughing while hundreds of dollars worth of chicken nuggets are added to their order, while the New York Post reported another person had bacon added to their ice cream in error.

IBM said it would continue to work with McDonald's in the future.

I hope so.

We could get lucky. A solar flare might destroy a big enough chunk of the technology we have become so reliant upon and we may be forced back into early industrial subsidence. With all the DEI douchebags forced to compete with the rest on an equal footing.

Live with or perhaps merge with the technology. The future may be far different than we think.

Quote from: Oliver the Second on June 11, 2024, 06:43:28 PMI sometimes wonder if it's supposed to happen.

Nature can't make mechanisms so it makes biological units instead. The biological units evolve, become intelligent and start developing technology. Eventually the technology reaches the point where it starts becoming the dominant species. It continues to grow exponentially until it surpasses its creator and eventually takes over.

The end result is a V-GER planet of living machines like in Star Trek the Motion Picture.

Well, for all we know... maybe it's supposed to be that way. Maybe it's a natural course of evolution to morph from biological to mechanical. Maybe the vast majority of planets in the universe are filled with mechanical life and we just don't know it. Perhaps we're nothing but caterpillars that cocooned themselves into a chrysalis of technology and are just now starting to push out the butterfly.

Man this is some damn good green bud  :cool2:

That could be part of the story; biologicals with an elevated propensity for self-destruction either kill themselves before creating machine life or create a type of machine life that exacerbates their self-destructive tendencies.

I would be surprised though if there aren't also biologicals out there that either live in harmony with their machine intelligences or have created machines that aren't "alive" in a way that would threaten the biologicals' existence. Only biologicals whose technological advances aren't developed in a climate of constant war and mutual exploitation can find that sweet spot, though. It's likely their technology isn't even based on machines as we know them, at least not when it comes to computation and automation.

It's even not impossible that we, if we're lucky, can shoot past the danger zone of exterminating ourselves with the help of AI by surfing on advances made possible by breakthroughs in quantum mechanics. That's supposing we can somehow manage to abandon our suicidal tendencies and that's depressingly unlikely, truth be told.

I wonder if the real problem is people like me. I'm so disgusted with things, I'm ok to sit back while it all burns down.

BTW, I think its already too late because I believe we already have a situation where nothing makes sense.

Gpt4 has already read every book ever written

And gpt5 will be an exponential leap in advancement over 4

Combine that with the consolidation of all private and public IP into one convient dominion of control also known as ""cloud"" and what do you have?

End game starting to become clear yet?

Maybe those little old ladies hording paperback books and old newspapers aren't the crazy ones after all
