I'm not surprised to hear all of Hollywood is shitting itself. The #MeToo and #BelieveHer movements blew out big time the minute Joe Biden was accused and this case has all the hallmarks of re-igniting that.

Those movements were in one respect a perversion in and of themselves. They were more in keeping with the French style of justice, presuming guilt from the very moment an allegation was made instead of what was more common until that point; namely "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law". Most never got their day in court before their lives were upended by a charge of behaving improperly, some never even got to hear any specific charges before their lives were destroyed (Garrison Keillor is a good example of this) and more than once I was aware of charges made where even the most cursory of inspection revealed the accused could not possibly have committed the offence based on the evidence presented, yet the accused was punished regardless simply because a bad faith actor was chasing a little extra moolah or outside interests wanted a certain person out of the way.

All that said, Hollyweird has entire warehouses of skeletons ready to boogie on out into the daylight and they aren't the only ones. Diddler hails from a section of the entertainment industry with a reputation for openly boasting about the exact same shit he's charged with. I'm inclined to think he is in all probability guilty of at least some, if not all of the charges and eminently deserving of being hanged by his cock. Lest we forget, there are those in this world that said the same of Donald Trump when E. Jean Carroll stuck her hand out for gibs. They have no problem in finding him liable, even though he was found to be not guilty.

I tend to think there is a subtext to P. Diddler's case we might be missing. Hollywood definitely feels like it is being put on blast by a justice system that has a history of differential enforcement, particularly under an administration that is in dire need of an electoral bump. "Don't make trouble for us, what we are doing to this nigger can just as easily happen to you." That's the message I'm seeing and while I am content to see genuine criminals getting their just desserts, I am reluctant to return to a time when a baseless allegation can be employed to utterly destroy someone's life before they can be shown to be not guilty.
