Quote from: DKG on March 21, 2025, 10:34:50 AMWhat kind of a person doesn't support eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending that ultimately costs taxpayers more?
Quote from: DKG on March 21, 2025, 10:34:50 AMThe Trump Administration will not cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits. President Trump himself has said it over and over and over again.
The president campaigned on no benefit cuts. His working class base would not have voted for him if he had promised cuts.
Elon Musk didn't say that, either. The mainstream media is lying again.
Here is Musk's direct quote: "The waste and fraud in entitlement spending — which is most of the federal spending is entitlements — so, that's, like, the big one to eliminate. That's the, sort of half-trillion, maybe $6-700 billion a year."
And he's exactly right.
FACT: The U.S. Government Accountability Office estimates taxpayers lose as much as $521 billion annually to fraud — and most of that is within entitlement programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.
FACT: Over the past two decades, the federal government has made an estimated $2.7 trillion in "improper payments" — the majority of which come in the form of "payments to deceased individuals or those who no longer [are] eligible for government programs."
FACT: The Social Security Administration made an estimated $72 billion in improper payments between 2015 and 2022.
FACT: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimated it made $140+ billion in improper payments in 2024 alone.
What kind of a person doesn't support eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending that ultimately costs taxpayers more?
Quote from: Biggie Smiles on March 20, 2025, 11:16:26 PMNo.. but there are games you can play with the numbers within the system so that a hammer suddenly costs the program half a million dollars and coffee cups are sudden costing more than 250K a piece
Quotemart Cucknadians worry less about Orange Man Great and more about the depression thats coming to Canduhduh from fighting him. It's not Orange Man that has driven millions of working Canadians to rely on food banks. It's the federal Liberal Party of Canada that did that.
Quote from: JOE on March 21, 2025, 12:31:51 AMBut can the US afford it?You quickly pivoted after stating that eliminating federal taxes on the working poor is giving money away to billionaires.
I highly doubt it Shen LiShen.
Even a nation as wealthy as the United States.
Likewise I thought Kamala Harris's idea of giving away $25,000 US ($40,000 Canadian) for 1st homeowners was loony as well.
Just adds to the deficits.
Nothing should be given away that a nation can't afford. Tax cuts for the rich or extravagant social programs.
At least Ralph Klein in your province of Alberta only gave out rebate cheques when the deficits got paid down. People hated him for his budget cuts but at least he got the debt down. He was that old fashioned type who only spent what was in the kitty.
Btw Klein was originally a member of the Liberal party til he switched to being a conservative.
