Quote from: Dove on April 17, 2025, 06:43:02 PMOh no. Nope. He took a chunk of money out of his inheritance to do home repairs.

He didn't want to finance the roof or the sump pump system so he just took a chunk out of that.

He had to pay a few thousand in taxes out of it when he took it out, and it counted as income and bumped him into a higher tax bracket for this year.

So his taxes were higher this year.

He figured that was going to happened so he was not totally shocked but it still pissed him off.

In a few months he is going to pay summer property taxes and he is already mad about that lol.
I got it now.

Quote from: Dove on April 17, 2025, 08:20:24 PMIt's definitely an inheritance. It's disgusting bullshit that he has to pay taxes out of it and that he had to pay taxes TWICE on that chunk he took out to do home repairs.
I agree. Inheritances should not be taxed once let alone twice.

Quote from: Herman on April 17, 2025, 08:10:22 PMAnyway you slice it kid, it sounds like an inheritance. So far we don't tax inheritances in Canada. Conman Carney wants to change that. So, when I pass on my farm to my boy, he may have to send a lot of money to Ottawa.

Quote from: Dove on April 17, 2025, 08:04:11 PMIt's like a fund that got transfered to him when his mother died.

It's not "income" at all. He mostly leaves it alone but he took about maybe 50k out. Had to pay a few thousand in taxed, and now the government says he "made" that 50k on top of his income. Which put him in a higher tax bracket for this year.

It's complete bullshit considering he paid taxes on it already when he withdrew it and then it counted as income and he paid higher taxes this year because of it...even though it was already taxed when he took it out.

So he paid taxes for that 50k twice.

He doesn't mind paying taxes. But it gets ridiculous. This was left to him by his parents. Its just been sitting there in an account.  As soon as he goes to take anything out of it the government comes knee capping people like fucking pirates lol

The Democrat hate is strong in my house right now as my man had to pay more taxes then he was expecting.

Put him in a pretty sour mood the night before last.

That would have forced Ontarians to freeze in the dark, but there was barely a word from Doug Ford about it.
