CPP back in Canada is fucking garbage. People can contribute the max for 45 years and get $900/month at age 65.

We have multi-choice private/public pension scheme here in the Lion City that blows Canada's shitty no competiton state pension plan out of the water.

Quote from: Biggie Smiles on Today at 04:31:41 PMIf I retired tomorrow I would be entitled to 5,600.00 a month in SSI. BUt I am not retiring tomorrow and in fact I probably wont get to retire until I am 70.

Don't wait too long avatar_Biggie Smiles Bigly!

I'm gonna retire this year & enjoy my pension, eh?

I don't know what the pension situation is like in your country, but ifya wait too long there might be nothin left.

I like pensions. It don't matter to me if it is the state that runs the pension plan or a private pension fund like a lot of rich countries do. But, working folks need a guaranteed pension.

Yeah, plus the government has taken money from BOTH the employer and the employee to account for SSI so ALL of that money would be due, plus interest accrued for the entirety of the person's life.

This is what an employer will commonly refer to as a "burden cost" it is the TOTAL cost of the employee not just their salary.

Take myself for instance. I cap out at 9,000.00 per year SSI tax which usually occurs in early September based on my salary. So I paid 9,000.00 into SS and my employer paid probably somewhere closer to 14,000.00

so if we did do away with SSI tomorrow I would expect a check in the sum of 23,000.00 times the 25 years I've been paying that kind of money into the system PLUS the additional years I made less which be about 10.

So a rough estimate of money owed to me is somewhere to the tune of 700,000.00. tack on another .05 for interest so we're closer to 750,000.00

there's no way the government is giving me that.

here's why

If I retired tomorrow I would be entitled to 5,600.00 a month in SSI. BUt I am not retiring tomorrow and in fact I probably wont get to retire until I am 70.

average life expectancy is what... maybe 75-77 these days?

so take 5800 and multiple that by 7 years and what do you come up with? 487,200.00 spread out in smaller manageable chunks as an operating cost as opposed to a capital expense of 700K up front as a capital expense.

the former looks far better on a balance sheet

therefore, the government will never do it. And If they do away with SS they will be doing away with it to the detriment of millions who have paid into over the span of their life which would make them no better than Enron and cause an all out violent catastrophe

it is frightening when you think about it Dove.

As you know we just had an election. The result was terrible. Mark Carney won by telling lies about his opponent that he knew voters would believe.

When I lived in Canada every provincial and federal election the libtard parties would run lies and fear. They know white Canadians are stupid enough to buy their fearmongering. It worked for Mark Carnage.
