This topic is about Canadians being among the most indebted consumers in the first world. After a decade and counting of Liberal mismanagement Canadians are among the most indebted consumers in the developed world.

The consequences of this are that Americans are now about forty percent richer than Canadians. About twelve years ago they were roughly equal.

Rapidly growing debt without growing the economy is a one way ticket to developing world status. Just ask Argentina about that. And this is why Canada's problems are particularly acute.

I also should mention Canada is not honest about how they account for debt. Liberal Party governments offload federal debt to the provinces in the form of reduced transfers.

If the Trudeau years were remarkable for anything, it was the speed and carelessness with which the Liberal government spent money — taxpayers' money.

The Liberals increased the size of the federal budget to well over $500 billion in just 10 years from $281 billion in 2015 — a staggering 93 per cent increase.

If they had allowed federal spending to increase by just the amount of population growth and inflation during that decade, the figure today would be about $363 billion, but it's closer to $540 billion.

So even after accounting for inflation and population growth, the Trudeau government increased the size of the federal government by well over 40 per cent. That even includes the way they let immigration and rising prices both get way out of control.

So when federal public-sector unions, like PSAC (the Public Service Alliance of Canada) start threatening that essential services will be cut if the Carney government touches even a dollar of public spending, don't listen.

Carney is an elitist who hates the entire working class so I expect he will cut transfers to provinces for health care instead of firing prog civil servants who serve no purpose for Canadian workers.
