It seems like politicians think the best way to fight climate change is to burn through your money (and jet fuel) going to international conferences.

We caught the federal government billing you $1.6 million sending 240 delegates to attend the United Nations' latest climate conference in Brazil.

They billed you half a million dollars for their accommodations. You know they spent too much money when they could've rented out a penthouse apartment with its own jacuzzi and saved money.

Seized Hamas memos, analyzed by NGO Monitor and reported by the National Post, allege that Canadian taxpayer money flowed to Gaza projects where beneficiaries were selected by Hamas itself and staff were screened by Hamas security.

One NGO alone, Handicap International, received over $28 million from Ottawa between 2019 and 2024. A guarantor at that organization was reportedly listed in the documents as "affiliated with the Hamas movement."

Global Affairs Canada says it has "enhanced due diligence" in place. But when asked directly about a $300,000 project where Hamas controlled the beneficiary list, the department did not address the question.

That is not due diligence. That is a gap in accountability that Canadian taxpayers deserve answers on.

The documents were authenticated by the IDF. The National Post was unable to independently verify them.

Hans McCarthy is an Indigenous activist who recently won a court case to get more accountability in his community.

Hans is a band member of Frog Lake First Nation. Frog Lake's trust fund, funded by the band's oil revenues, not tax dollars, totaled about $102 million in 2013. Only $8.7 million was left in 2024, according to basic documents released through the First Nations Financial Transparency Act.

In a community like Frog Lake, a lost $90 million could have been used to help with a lot of issues.

The Carney Liberals are handing $200 MILLION to Liberal-connected insiders to lease a spaceport site on land already owned by taxpayers.

Even worse, this project, which is supposed to launch rockets into outer space, is currently nothing more than a gravel parking lot with a small concrete pad.

Minister of Heritage Marc Miller just admitted the next Liberal media bailout could cost taxpayers up to $6 BILLION.

The Carney Liberals are preparing to massively expand their media bailout program.

By bankrolling the media, Carney has already compromised Canada's free and independent press.

But this is going to take it to a whole new, 6-billion-dollar level.

A free and independent press is supposed to hold the government accountable, not rely on government cheques to survive.

While Canadian hospitals fall apart, the Liberals are giving this kind of money to non-citizens, many of whome came here illegally.

The CBC really doesn't want you to know how many Canadians use its streaming service, CBC Gem.

Government records that show the CBC spent $59,000 on lawyers and legal bills going to court to prevent you from getting those numbers. And that's just how much CBC spent on legal bills so far. The total bill could climb even higher.

The state broadcaster is trying to hide information from you even though it's your tax dollars that keep its lights on. Remember: The CBC takes more than $1.4 billion from taxpayers like you every year.

The CBC refused to disclose the number of Gem subscribers when asked through an access-to-information request by Open By Default's Matt Malone. 
 
The Information Commissioner ruled the CBC must hand over the numbers, but the CBC refused and instead went to court to try to keep the numbers hidden.

The CBC asked the court to disregard the Information Commissioner's order to release the numbers. The state broadcaster argued that keeping subscriber numbers secret is necessary to compete in a crowded streaming market.

That's a bit unusual. Most companies are eager to tell you how many customers they have – unless the number isn't impressive.

Even publicly traded companies disclose subscription metrics. Streaming giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube report total paid memberships or subscription revenue in financial filings and annual reports.

From 2025 through 2029, Trudeau planned to borrow $112 billion. Carney plans to borrow twice as much – $242 billion – over those same years.

If taxpayers did a blind taste test, Carney's budget would taste worse than Trudeau's.

The finance minister spent $12,000 paying a contractor to help write his budget speech. And in that very same budget, the minister claimed the government was cutting spending on consultants.

Global Affairs Canada spent $59,000 to decorate a consulate in Milan, Italy.

The department dropped $33,680 on seven pieces of "artwork" – an average of $4,800 each.

One is a pair of "upcycled" pink cowboy boots with some beads, "floral work" and "wire trail duster fringe." The artist said it's meant to symbolize his "personal relationship to queer history."

Four pieces of art are textiles by an Indigenous artist, made mainly from rabbit fur, beads and sherpa. One of those pieces is a mitten on a pole. Yes – a mitten on a pole.
