Wake up Canadians. The latest Human Freedom Index just came out from the Fraser Institute and the Cato Institute, this isn't some opinion piece, it's hard data from 87 indicators covering everything from rule of law, security, freedom of speech, assembly, religion, movement, low taxes, fewer regulations, and the right to trade freely.

Canada under the Liberals? We can't even crack the top 10 anymore.
Back when Stephen Harper and the Conservatives were in charge, Canada was consistently in the top 10, sometimes as high as 6th. We were one of the freest nations on Earth, where people could make their own personal and economic choices without Big Government breathing down their necks.
But since the Liberals took over? We've been slipping year after year.

Matthew D. Mitchell, senior fellow at the Fraser Institute and co-author of the report, said it straight: "Governments around the world have recently been restricting freedom of expression, freedom of association and assembly, freedom of movement, and the freedom to use sound money, and the impact is alarming."

Sound familiar? Think about frozen bank accounts during the Freedom Convoy, endless regulations choking small businesses, skyrocketing taxes, online censorship bills, and politicians telling us what we can say or how we can protest.

Let that sink in.

Meanwhile, freer countries mean wealthier, healthier, happier people with less corruption and more opportunity.

Ask yourself:
- Why has Canada fallen out of the top 10 under the Liberals?
- Why are they restricting speech, assembly, and economic choices when the data shows freedom makes life better?
- When did putting more government control over Canadians become the priority instead of letting us thrive?

This isn't about left or right, it's about freedom. The same freedom our grandparents fought for.

Jo Jo and I are appalled by what Mark Carney's Liberals have been trying to control what you can see and say.

C-11 gives the Liberals sweeping censorship powers over what Canadians can see and say online.
C-18 blocks news from social media, silencing independent voices and limiting what Canadians are allowed to read.
C-9 would punish Canadians for quoting scriptures the government considers politically incorrect.
This does not belong in a free country. In fact, just look how Canadians reacted when Global Affairs Canada tweeted about censorship by foreign regimes:

Bill C‑3 is now law. And with it, Canada has crossed a line that free nations do not come back from. This is not a future risk. This is not a warning about what might happen. This is what has happened.

Carney is even more of a dictator than Trudeau was.

The Liberals informed us that the budget bill will actually include yet another measure that would sideline Parliament's functions, concentrating even more power in the prime minister and his cabinet. Section 12 of the Bill C-15 would allow the minister to exempt any individual, business or other organization from any existing law or regulation other than the Criminal Code, for up to six years, with few limits. This means Prime Minister Carney and his ministers could get to act like dictators, greenlighting exemptions to Parliament's laws for their friends whenever convenient.

Section 12 says ministers would be allowed to create exemptions to any law except for the Criminal Code so long as they say the exemptions are in the public interest, would enable goals like "testing a new regulatory regime" aimed at "innovation, competitiveness or economic growth," have benefits that outweigh the risks, and come with measures will be taken to protect health, safety and the environment.

Unlike most orders and regulations, which must be published in the Canada Gazette within 30 days, the minister would only be required to notify the public "as soon as feasible." The minister would be allowed to keep secret information about the order that they decide would be "inappropriate" to make public.

This means the government could enter into contracts with individuals in situations where doing so would otherwise violate the Conflict of Interest Act, and not ever tell us the details. It means citizens and journalists get blocked from seeking documents under the Access to Information Act. It means mining companies may be able to avoid their obligations to prevent corruption under the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act. And it could create all kinds of regulatory goodies for ministers to reward preferred companies by letting them avoid environmental regulations while their competitors can't.

An even bigger problem with section 12 than the obvious risk of corruption it creates is that it would allow ministers to avoid the necessary work of convincing Parliament that bad laws need to be amended. There's no question that there are laws and regulations on the books that stand in the way of progress and development, but the solution is for Parliament to actually sit in Ottawa and figure out how to fix them.

In a democracy, ministers shouldn't be deciding that any individual or company should get a free pass from the laws. That's really not much different than being ruled by a king or a dictator. We send MPs to Ottawa to represent our interests by ensure that laws are fair, necessary, and broadly responsive to Canadians' needs.

The cumulative effect of the bundle of new laws the Liberals are intent on enacting will establish a prime minister and cabinet members who are no longer accountable to parliament, with the power to selectively grant special privileges to some and to selectively apply an extended hand of the law to others. This plan would be unfolding as devised were it not for the dogged questioning from a handful of acute opposition MPs and one alarming discovery by Toronto Star national columnist and CBC "At Issue" panelist Althia Raj.

On Dec. 6 the Toronto Star featured what has turned out to be a bombshell news item for parliamentarians. Raj concisely described the Liberals' deceitful sleight of hand maneuver with Bill C-15, their budget legislation, in her news article, "Mark Carney is quietly giving sweeping new powers to his ministers."

"Hidden in the federal government's 634-page omnibus bill C-15, the Budget Implementation Act, is a measure that has so far escaped scrutiny. Under the pretext of regulatory efficiency, Prime Minister Mark Carney plans to grant cabinet ministers the power to exempt any individual or company from any federal law on the books — except for the Criminal Code — for up to six years.

For a decade, the Liberal government has repeatedly exposed itself as quintessentially fascist and an urgent threat to all democracy in Canada.

Firstly, the Liberal government has consistently oppressed the fundamental human rights and liberties of all Canadians.

For example, since its advent in 2015, the Liberal government has repeatedly violated human rights such as 'free speech', 'religious freedom', and 'political assembly'.

Via legislation, such as Bill C-8 and Bill C-9, the Combatting Hate Act, the Liberal government now seeks the power to ban so-called 'specified persons' from the Internet entirely and to punish any Canadian with a lifetime of imprisonment for a slew of vaguely defined hate-crimes that amount almost entirely to right-wing 'wrongthink' and whose parameters can easily be manipulated in order to encompass any conservative ethos or religious ideology.

Canada has been moving in the direction of Britain's criminalization of free speech since the Liberal regime roasted to power a decade ago. Now, Carney is putting teeth into their fight against liberty.

Calgary street pastor Derek Reimer landed behind bars again Wednesday, facing a possible two years in prison.

He'd be a free man if only he had lied and said he was sorry for offending a librarian during a brief encounter in early 2023. That was when he showed up at Saddletowne Public Library to protest drag queens reading stories to children there.

Reimer called the Reading With Royalty drag queen story hour for children a "pervert grooming session." He posted a video of the 90-second encounter at the library, identified manager Shannon Slator, and provided a number to call her to object to the library hosting drag events.

Reimer was eventually convicted of criminally harassing Slater, sentenced to 12 months in house arrest which expires on December 23, two years of probation, and numerous conditions.
