Well the jury is back, and it's verdict time.
Canadian food prices are rising the fastest in the G7...and they're climbing twice as fast as prices south of the border.
That's not Conservative spin. That's your grocery receipt.
Jo Jo and I were discussing while spooning that Mr. Carney counts on the ignorance of a large segment of the Canadian population. His elbows up campaign was the perfect example of that.

He promised to get a deal with Trump he didn't. He promised to reduce the cost of living. It rose. He is a liar.

Meanwhile, in the House of Commons where Carney should have been, Pierre Poilievre laid out a solution that would help all 40 million Canadians, not just 12 million: scrap the hidden Liberal taxes on groceries.
➤ The 7-cent fuel tax on truckers and farmers.
➤ The industrial carbon tax on farm equipment and fertilizer.
➤ Those costs show up at the checkout.

Bottom line: Canadians are judging Mark Carney every time they step up to the cash register and scan a bag of carrots. Regular folks aren't fooled by a government that takes more, spends more, and hands back a few breadcrumbs...hoping that's enough to buy a few votes.

Carney rolled out a new "affordability" package he claims will help families cope with the cost-of-living squeeze.
Here's the breakdown:
➤  A Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, delivered through the GST rebate.
➤ In year one, eligible low- and modest-income Canadians get a one-time boost: $790 for a family of four, $410 for an individual.
➤ Starting next year...and for the following four years...the GST rebate rises 25%, meaning $300 more for a family of four and $160 more for an individual, per year.
Then comes the spending spree aimed at suppliers:
➤ $500 million from the Strategic Response Fund to "expand capacity and productivity."
➤ $150 million Food Security Fund for greenhouses and abattoirs (both sound a lot like kickbacks to friends of the Liberal government)
➤ A full write-off for new greenhouses acquired after Nov. 4, 2025 and in use before 2030. I don't oppose tax incentives to boost production...but when oil and gas get them, the NDP screams "subsidy."
There's also $20 million for the Local Food Infrastructure Fund to ease pressure on food banks. Even the Calgary Food Bank is skeptical it will make a real difference. In my opinion, this won't stop stomachs from grumbling.

Conservatives didn't pull any punches. Andrew Scheer called the GST rebate a recycled Trudeau-era policy...temporary, cosmetic, and ineffective. He's right: it won't even cover a full grocery run for a working family.
