We have 2 new Sumatran tigers in our zoo, hoping to breed them in the future.
They are the most beautiful and awe inspiring animal on the planet, in my view, and we must save them from extinction.

They are also rather shy...I had to wait 45 minutes for Kembali to emerge from the far reaches of his enclosure, and he stayed in view for no more than 5 minutes.

I can't tell the difference between Sumatran, Bengal and Siberian tigers.
One speaks Indonesian, one speaks Indian and one speaks Russian.
Jees... :001_rolleyes:

These are amazing. I can only tell the difference from an orange tiger and a white tiger.

Exactly. Sumatran, Siberian and Bengal tigers look the same.
Nope.
Siberian is bigger than the Bengal, and MUCH bigger than the smaller Sumatran.

I'm aware of the size differences, but they look the same.

That makes me want to go to the Winnipeg zoo. I haven't been there in a very long time.
We're life members of the local zoo. We have pandas too!!!

They sell lifetime memberships?
The only zoo in Canada that has pandas at the moment is Calgary's. Toronto had them before that.
Yes. After they got the pandas, they realised that they had outspent themselves, and needed cash, fast. So they ran a promo of 2 for 1 life memberships. We grabbed it. It gives you access to all the big zoos in Oz for life.
A few years back I took my nephew and niece to a private zoo not far from here called the Elmvale Jungle Zoo. Not bad, but no Adelaide zoo.
The best zoo I've visited is in Singapore, which is in fact 2 zoos in one. A day zoo and a night zoo. Both are worth seeing.
There are no cages except a rainforest shadecloth canopy for their aviary, which is massive.
Oddly, most of their exotic birds are from Australia...

I went to the zoo in Seoul twenty some years ago. I was not impressed.

We also have hyenas...which I think are pretty cool looking critters.

We don't have hyenas at our zoo right now.

But there are some in your forum. Laughing hyenas!!!

I agree. They look like members of the dog family, but they are not.
