Some will consider that a serious threat.

I strongly advocate this thread be deleted.

You are COMPLETELY wrong!

Black powder is completely legal to buy and possess in Canada by anyone (unless court order forbids possession) without any special licences or permits (although many gun stores will only sell it to those with a gun license, but this isn't a mandatory requirement), as is smokeless powder too.

There are requirements though, for them to record the sales of any smokeless or black powder in container form (but not in 'bullet form'), so you will have to provide a government ID card of some sort, and that info will be filed.
Title: Re: I am assembling the components...
Post by: Chuck Bronson on November 06, 2018, 12:00:19 AM
So, the mini-cannon is what is considered an 'antique black powder device' in Canada.  No special licences or checks are required to buy/own/posses/transfer/ship, etc.  Regular "real gun" laws do not apply to it in this country.  It is essentially not considered a 'gun' in the eyes of the law, unless used in the commission of a crime!

Surprisingly they aren't.  Mini-cannons are sold all over Europe too, even in nations with strict gun control.

Only Australia may have an issue, but then again a slingshot ('Ging'...  see?  I'm learning foreign language!) is banned in half your country.  A fucking slingshot!

Right about now Bricktop would like to stuff a mini-cannon full of black powder, a bit of paper towel as wadding, and insert a .30cal steel ball...

To the delight of his wife and kids, everyone would be smiling after that little fucker went boom!

It's what men were meant to do!

Then he realized that it wasn't ever meant to be possible where he lived.  He thought there would be some advantages for white people having to live in desert wasteland heat, but he was wrong...

No. I'm telling you what is legal in Australia, and any implement which fires a projectile by means of explosive force is classified as a firearm, and thus falls into the category of implements requiring registration and licensing.

You will find the same applies in the UK, and many other parts of the world.

To test YOUR theory as to legality, put an extra long fuse in one, light it then run to stand in front of it.

Kneel down, preferably.

Actually, they are pretty safe, a little cannon like this.  While they can obviously cause damage if you stick your hand in front of it right before lighting the fuse, that damage wouldn't be 'life altering.'

Black powder isn't actually a 'high explosive' using layman's terms...  It is actually a slow burning (relatively) powder, so there simply isn't that much pressure forming in a mini-cannon (using black powder) to blast the shot out with much more energy than your average BB gun could offer, give or take.

Now, if we were to use flash powder, we're in a WHOLE other ballpark then!  Flash powder is regulated in this country much more heavily than black powder is, even though it is still somewhat possible to source in legal ways.  However, flash powder truly is crazy shit, and is best left to professional pyrotechnicians to fuck around with!  You were to throw some flash powder in that mini-cannon, and you truly would have a device that could very quickly become very dangerous...  Black powder is still pretty 'tame'.

I have never known much about OZ until more recently in my life, but I think the 'olden day, childhood version' of what I imagined OZ to be (free, mean, tough, etc...)  You know...  Croc Dundee.  Micheal.  THIS IS A KNOIFE!

THAT was quickly dashed once I viewed the 1001 rules of things that you cannot HAVE, and you cannot DO.

I knew the UK was always like that, but then I realized that OZ is even worse!

I think Canada is probably the least restrictive Crown colony, as it has aligned its rules moreso with the US, than with the other Brit colonies.

And I am thankful for that.  Micheal was just an actor, and he was in the US, so he could possess his blade.  That WAS a KNOIFE!  And I am glad that I can possess that knife also, and am sad that you Desert Criminals cannot...

I think Canada is probably the least restrictive Crown colony, as it has aligned its rules moreso with the US, than with the other Brit colonies.

And I am thankful for that.  Micheal was just an actor, and he was in the US, so he could possess his blade.  That WAS a KNIFE!  And I am glad that I can possess that knife, and am sad that you Desert Criminals cannot...

You can possess any knife here. Carrying it without a clear reason as decided by the police is the issue. If you were deep in the interior, having a knife on you or a rifle wouldn't be an issue. The cities are different. Overpoliced

I do get that.  Canada will enact many things on a Federal level, especially when it comes to guns & knives, so the entire nation is all  'on board'...  We ALL know the rules.

I have spent a few hours with OZ gun (and knife) laws...  It is difficult, it is confusing, and if in doubt...  It is NOT allowed there!

Canadian Provinces tend not to change the Federal provisions much (but they can and do every now and then), so that is what stands.

OZ Provinces seem to have massively different rules and regs from one another, depending on the territory.

That's too much, my son had a slingshot.

A weapon is a weapon.

Carrying weapons is forbidden.

Simple, really. So far, nobody can explain why it is appropriate to carry a weapon in public. ANY weapon.

What happens when Australia completely neuters their boys and men?  What happens when boys cannot do boy things, and men cannot do men things?

I'll TELL you what will happen!  There will be generations of men that don't know they are men anymore, and may turn to plain silly behaviour like dressing and attempting to act like women, or may even take it one step further and go full gender reassignment!  You really want that?

Ah, so Mel's misfiring synapses present us with yet another of his illogical arguments.

Men must carry weapons or turn into females.

Men things and boy things are contingent on being armed?

No, son. Men things and boy things are about creating a safer world where all people are free to live in peace and without fear of being harmed by lunatics with weapons.

Which, of course, excludes YOU from being a MAN, let alone a boy.

Historically Canada has always been quite fair when it has 'banned' a class of firearm...  Pocket pistols are an example:  Those that owned them were grandfathered, and could continue to own them.  They could also transfer them to direct relatives, like their children for example.

Even Trudeau more recently stated that Canada has a 'strong responsible gun culture,' and he won't drastically fuck with it.

Flash powder was originally used for camera flashes (hence the name).

Gunpowder is considered a 'low explosive,' which means that if you light a pile of it on the ground, it will not 'explode.'  It will simply burn.

Flash powder, on the other hand, has explosive qualities if a pile of it is lit.  It does not need to be contained in a pressure vessel to go bang.  It would be considered more a 'high explosive.'

Common items that could contain flash powder nowadays would be cap-gun caps for kids toy guns, and fireworks/firecrackers.  To purchase flash powder legally in bulk, Canada requires one to have a pyrotechnics license.  I believe the US has similar regs.

It is pretty wild stuff, and honestly much more dangerous than black powder is.  It would make mini-cannon go from a 'pop' to a 'boom!'

Dangerous stuff though, and really not something I would honestly toy around with.  I prefer my fingers intact!

So if anyone remembers those red rolls of cap gun strips that went 'bang' without needing to be contained, and with literally a tiny amount of powder on there, you now know what flash powder is, and potentially how dangerous having a bottle full of it could be!      That shit doesn't even need to be lit...  A good blow with a solid object will ignite it!
