Title: It's a Sunny fall weekend in Vancouver!
Post by: Superchecker on November 16, 2018, 10:57:25 AM
While we have seen some rain this month, fall has been surprisingly dry in metro Vancouver this year.

Four sunny days on tap for my region!

The news was showing the snowy conditions in the North east region of North America....

All smiles here!

It was rainy yesterday.

Good morning! Luckily it was dry early on when I walked to work, and only really rained in Richmond from about 7am until 11am or so.

Was also dry when I walked to the store and back at 2:30.

November is usually a lot wetter here.

October was the fourth driest ever here!

We've had little rain for a month now...moving into summer. Probably won't rain for a few months.

And no snow either.

OK.  I only ask, because I own and operate a gravel truck (yes, there are a few of us whities still doing that here), but I wouldn't typically work with guys doing the type of trades that you do.

There's lots of trades work here, and with the right company the pay is OK, relatively speaking.  Van is somewhat limited with opportunity for the 'average' guy...  Trades is the best way to stay busy and earn a living here, it seems.

I know a plumber, he's ticketed, that bought a van (yes, a white raper van with no windows) and went freelance.  Without even having a company name or number on the van, he is STILL turning down about 50% of the work that he's offered.

I asked why he doesn't expand the business?  He's simply happy running a one man show, and doesn't want to deal with employees.  He keeps busy enough!

Pay for residential work is a bit low, but that is most of the work in urban areas. I had a chance to go to the NWT for big money. I would never be home, so I turned it down.

I drove from Abbotsford to Vancouver yesterday Mel.

Cripes the roads were packed just dreadful going each wAy!

Highway 1 trans canada had a nervous breakdown and the traffic wasn't even moving!

And that was for at least 10 niles.

Highway 10 was slow but at least it was moving west.

You have a serious congestion problem out where you live.

Btw, can you suggest some shortcuts going east to west during rush hour?

Or is 1 and 10 the only arteries in and outta there?!

I found just one in Surrey once which enabled me to circumvent the congestion

I thought that title belongs to Richmond.

Like VancouverGuy said, its a mess.

Like Surrey, Richmond is impassable for much of the day.

And if you get caught east of hwy 99, you're stuck in traffic forever.
