Just a heads up, it's the continuation of a soon to be gone flame forum called The Third Rail. Flaming is dead, dead, dead, but those dinosaurs still have calendars from 2005. Joe and Mel are a perfect match, but I am surprised Blurt posts there. I didn't think it would appeal to him.
They also have a politics section run by two seriously afflicted TDS sufferers. One of them(Oak) I know from RW's forum and the other is Peaches, who used to post here. Oak thinks discrimination against Asians for university admission is fair and reasonable.

I like the folks on VF well enough, and I like the folks here, too, but what drew me to Flea's place was the fact that I recognized refugees from RW's defunct forum that I also liked. So I joined. No rack shots required.
Now, I don't know 80% of the posters there so I tend to stay away from "bad blood" discussions. I've never participated in flame boards so I don't know the history between all these individual posters, nor do I particularly care. One thing I do like, though, is that a broad spectrum of political and social views are represented; there are folks on the right, folks on the left, folks in the middle, and, like Joe, folks that are nothing and nowhere.
And there are some fairly decent word-wielders over there, a draw for me, just as Leo's output is a draw for me here.
And so far, Flea and Peaches have been pretty damn decent to us newbies. They're not trying to turn anyone against anyone, at least not very hard. Plus, they have their own internecine battles to deal with at the moment, battles that put them in opposition to TRF and FT, whatever those are.

My opinion on posting links to other forums, is that as long as its not a "mission" to recruit, and simply sharing knowledge of another forum, then its acceptable. I would not of found this place if not for that either. But deliberately spamming to recruit, is bad forum etiquette.
I hate not knowing about other forums. I've lost a lot of forum friends that way, cause sometimes other forums shut down, and if you dont know where others are posting, you're shit out of luck. Or sometimes, an admin goes bat shit crazy, and no one can even use a forum, so its nice to know of those other forums.
A poster will choose where he posts. Knowing about another forum does not mean you lose a poster, but simply gives that poster options to escape boredom. I have never abandoned a forum for another.

There was not one decent conversation about anything.

I've was always a good person with a big heart. I always helped people. A lot of these people I tried helping had big problems and remind me of the posters at TR, or the morons in general next door.
I just turned 40 this year. I dont know if it's a milestone mark or a point in life but...I am DONE with helping people, even peoples kids. The answer is no. Ive seriously set up boundaries for myself and refuse to talk to certain people. Ive even kicked out and banned certain kids from coming into my home or hanging out with my kid. I had to sit down with her and tell her some losers are just not worth your time...she got the message and was smart enough to drop those friends...she ignores them now, doesnt return texts or associate with any of them...unbelievable how some of them continuously text her nasty things...reminds me of the loser posters, just dont know when to stop....but doesnt respond and ignores them...it has died down.
I blame the parents for these kids behaviour. They dont do anything to help their kids. One of them doesnt even care that her daughter is not going to school at all, walks the street at any hour and she allows her to drink and smoke pot....what a fuckin idiot! Shes setting her kid up for failure...to become an addict and just a loser in general.
I've really recoursed my life. I've shut the doors to almost everyone, for the time being...I want zero negativity in my life...and I dont want to hear from those who are constantly talking about themselves and how fabulous they think they are...no one cares, literally. When people get like that, I can see they have no one in their lives, mental issues or serious problems...there is NOTHING great about them.
In order for myself to live a positive life with positive vibes is to just shut these people out. I dont care about texts from them that I'm such a terrible friend and whatnot behaviour....they will never see how their constant negative behaviour has its consequences on other people. It's worth putting that wall up for some peace and positivity.

I was addicred to nicotine tablets 6 mths ago... tea was the last addiction I cut. I'm drug free now....lol

Not very many people here acknowledge this kind of positive behaviour...I hold open doors and smile to people, and zero acknowledgment I did them a favour...a lot of women who think they are all that. You dont want to live here. There is no quality to life. Living in Vancouver is for snobs...its a competition of whose better than the next person. Mostly just rich, lonely people with bad attitudes.
Everytime I go across the border, even to Bellingham, Seattle or Olympia....the attitude changes drastically...people in the states seem more happy.
I cant wait when the day arrives I can leave this city and get the hell out of here. I'm tired of being surrounded by so many rich-wannabe losers.

I read somewhere recently, that if Europeans see each other in other parts of the world, they simply walk on by, but if an Aussie sees another, they will talk to each other. I thought that was pretty cool.
My brother, out in Seattle, was amazed when he walked with me. I would have my smile on, nod at folks, and they would ask how I was and such. My brother on the other hand, says no one ever says anything to him or acknowledges him. I told him ya gotta smile more and be more friendlylol.
It's true. You gotta go out of your way to be happy, no ones going to do it for you.
Not very many people here acknowledge this kind of positive behaviour...I hold open doors and smile to people, and zero acknowledgment I did them a favour...a lot of women who think they are all that. I always say thx to anyone who hold a door open...I even had a guy say thx for saying thx cause no one ever does.
This is true! I think its what keeps us young too

I was in Vanacouver recently and I agree it's not exactly the most friendly city.

Odd, the Chinese here are very friendly. Perhaps the Australian culture rubs off on them. Second gens are good Australians. In my experience, Chinese people have a great sense of humour, and are quite happy to chat if there English is up to it.
They are very conscientious when working and very focused, which may come across as distant and indifferent on occasion, but they will smile when smiled at.

I find most of the whites are leaving for smaller towns, Calgary or the USA. I have many friends who have left for the USA.
I love in Coquitlam, so it's not so bad. Therr is a lot of asians and persians. 50% of the asians (mostly younger generation) are ok. They're nice and have integrated into society. I work with a few and they are kind. The Persians on the other hand refuse to learn the language or adapt to our customs. They are the first ones to scream racism when something happens..esp when it is their fault, and they dont get their way. They are the ones who steal and sell drugs. I see many of them with those wheeled baskets you use at the grocery store.. they just take them use them for their own personal use. You cant take those things...imagine if we all took those? We'd have nothing to use at the super market. They're also the ones who like to wear massive bling and think they are so entitled.
When I hop on the skytrain, once I get to burnaby, its immigrantville and very rude behaviour.
Just my observation. One main reason why I NEVER go dt. Not everyone directly in Vancouver is from there...many work there or are there for the day trying to fit in so hard and many women dress up and go dt to look for a rich man...its so pathetic. Rich guys dont go to bars and pubs after work.
