I work throughout the holiday season. A 12-hour shift on Christmas Day and a 10-hour shift on Boxing day. I also work 12-hour shifts on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and on January 1st.



I'll be preparing a meal for the tenants on Christmas Day. Many of them have been shunned by, or have lost contact with, their families so this will be a bit of a treat for them.



I'll take a few days' vacation some time in February or March.

Poor South Australians today (where BT is) have temps as high as 48.... That sounds extremely sickening.

It hit 40 here today. Many a young possum and bird were rehydrated hand to mouth but not all made it.



Tomorrow plunges to the early 20's then the next day heats up beyond 40.  



Animals don't do so well with drastic changes.



We're leaving out water vessels on the property tonight and regularly refilling them.



If they can smell their way and drink on their own, they generally make it. If they drop from the trees and you try to give water to them, it's fifty fifty if they'll make it.

46C. Once again I believe Adelaide is the hottest city on the planet. Yesterday birds were dipping in our pool and I've NEVER seen that before.

I suffered through a 117 F one year at a crayfishing squatters camp called Knobby Head when I was a kid (1970s) and two other times.



That first time my grandmother was cooking a traditional Xmas dinner in a wood oven..  ac_crying



these days I don't have to suffer those temps...



I feel sorry for all the native fauna, the mind boggles they survive horrendous conditions...



I cannot bear watching the news so I've avoided it for the last two weeks. I wished they could do something about the pyromaniacs starting all the fires.



How Sth Aussies are surviving those temps is a mystery to me.

Hahaha, and honestly I doubt I would use it for its purpose. Seems like an accident waiting to happen with hot coffee lol. Its still a nifty idea for a pothead. Coffee and pot go great together, I swear I feel like I wind up on a higher spiritual plane or something lol.



Back when I was into spiritual things, I would try and project positive energy, mentally. Projecting energy I found was very draining.



My friend and I were studying stones and such around that time too. Think he even got a chakra stick.

I went to pick up a party platter to take to my parents last night and all the good ones had been picked through. So, I had to go out to the deli this morning and of course it's a bloody zoo. But, I got my platter and I bought all my booze to take with us on Sunday. I'm good to go.

As an atheist, I can still appreciate this time of year as a great occasion to chill with family and friends. And, no, I don't believe Mary was raped. Men in ancient tribal cultures always sought consent from their chattel.



On the menu for tonight: slow-cooked ham glazed in Sriracha sauce and orange marmelade, sweet potatoes baked and buttered, string beans, and a mixed greens salad. A bottle of wine and blue cheese, pear, and walnut ice cream to round things out.



May you all have a very Merry Christmas.



A special shout out to Leo: don't sweat it, old man... it's just weather. Here's hoping your finest cutlery won't melt before it breaks the turkey's skin.
