I saw this from a slideshow. There's a few good pictures in it.
Female Soldiers
Israel is one of two countries in the world that drafts women into the army for mandatory service. These young women draft at the age of 18 years old and serve at least two years in the armed forces. They take up roles in combat and non-combat positions.

Life's A Beach
Who doesn't love the beach? Definitely not the Israelis! In fact they have 137 official beaches, yet they only have 273 km of coastline. No wonder the Zohan spent so much time on the beach!

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132335/Lifes-A-Beach.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20-Beach.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132335/Lifes-A-Beach.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
I really miss the beaches and water activities.
World Record Flight
Israel's national airline, El Al, holds the world record for transporting the most passengers on a commercial jet with an incredible 1088 passengers! They set this record during "Operation Solomon" while airlifting Ethiopian Jews from Addis Ababa in 1991. Two babies were even born on the 747 during the flight.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132324/World-Record-Flight.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20Flight.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132324/World-Record-Flight.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Doggy Cemetery
Dogs have been a part of humans' lives for thousands of years, but since when has the idea of dog cemeteries been around? The oldest dog cemetery can be found in Ashkelon, Israel. It is believed that the dog remains unearthed there can be traced back to the 3rd to 5th centuries.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132315/Doggy-Cemetery.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20metery.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132315/Doggy-Cemetery.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Gay Capital
Unlike other countries' stance towards gays, Israel is very open to and accepting of homosexuality. Every year since 1979, the Pride Parade is held in Tel Aviv and has numbers as high as 200,000. Out Magazine called Israel the gay capital of the Middle East.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132250/Gay-Capital.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20apital.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132250/Gay-Capital.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Tree Treasure
Israel is one of two countries in the entire world which came into the 21st century with a greater number of trees than it had previously. This achievement can be attributed greatly to a project called KKL which encourages tree planting.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132237/Tree-Treasure.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20easure.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132237/Tree-Treasure.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Underweight Models
Israel became the first country to ban underweight models from competing in beauty contests. Beauty models have to have a BMI of more than 18.5 and each model must submit a 3-month health report before a shoot. This project's aim was to fight anorexia.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132226/Underweight-Models.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20Models.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132226/Underweight-Models.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Jews Against Israel
While there might be some Jewish people who don't agree with all the policies of Israel's government, there's a small sect that takes it to the extreme. The ultra-orthodox Jewish sect of "Neturei Karta" believes that the State of Israel shouldn't exist. They have even met with prominent leaders of Israel's enemies, like former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The group calls for "peaceful dismantlement of the State."

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132216/Jews-Against-Israel.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20Israel.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132216/Jews-Against-Israel.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Shocking isn't it.
Money For The Blind
There are only a few countries in the world that can be proud to make this claim, and Israel is one of them. Bank notes in Israel have braille markings on them, making it easy for blind people to use them.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132153/Money-For-The-Blind.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20-Blind.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132153/Money-For-The-Blind.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Pakistani Passports
If you were to take a look inside a Pakistani passport, you'd see that it read, "This passport is valid for all countries in the world, except Israel." The reason for this is because Pakistan uses this method to boycott Israel. Pakistan isn't the only country to implement this ban, though.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132130/Pakistani-Passports.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20sports.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132130/Pakistani-Passports.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Ah darn, no Pakistani passport holders in Israel. :laugh3:
High Life Expectancy
Out of all the countries in the Arab-Muslim world, Israel has the highest life expectancy for Arabs. The life expectancy is 79 years.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132117/High-Life-Expectancy.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20ctancy.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132117/High-Life-Expectancy.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
College Degrees
In ratio to population, Israelis have the highest number of college degrees per person in the world. Talk about spending your time in college!

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132106/College-Degrees.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20egrees.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/26132106/College-Degrees.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Official Languages
Even though most road signs in Israel are in 3 languages, there are only two official languages. Signs might read in Hebrew, Arabic and English, but English is not one of the official languages.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131439/Official-Languages.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20guages.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131439/Official-Languages.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
he Uzi
You know that neat little submachine gun that good guys always carry in one hand in the movies? Well that beautiful piece of weaponry is actually an Israeli invention. Major Uzi Gaf invented the easy-to-use gun and it made its way into IDF service in 1954 officially.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131425/The-Uzi.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20he-Uzi.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131425/The-Uzi.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Museum Mania
Israel might be a tiny country, but it has a lot of space for museums apparently. The Jewish State has more museums per capita than any other country in the world.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131411/Museum-Mania.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20-Mania.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131411/Museum-Mania.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
A Low Point
Did you know that Israel has the lowest point on Earth? That's right. The Dead Sea, which borders Jordan, sits at 1,315 feet below sea level. This sea is so salty that you can actually float on it! There is no life in the water, and it would take a good amount weights to get you fully submerged in the water.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131359/A-Low-Point.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20-Point.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131359/A-Low-Point.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Kosher Glue
Everyone knows that there are strict laws regarding the food that Jewish people can eat. So it would be fitting that the stamps which they lick before sending a letter would be kosher too. Now that's taking it to the next level.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131316/Kosher-Glue.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20r-Glue.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131316/Kosher-Glue.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Kosher McDonald's
The only place in the world where you can find kosher McDonald's is in Israel. There are more than 50 kosher outlets in Israel, but if you're looking for a cheeseburger, you're going to have to skip it.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131256/Kosher-McDonalds.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20onalds.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131256/Kosher-McDonalds.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Bus Stop Charity
If you happen to be waiting long for a bus, you have the opportunity to do a good deed. Many bus stops in the Holy Land have a charity box attached to the bus stop for people to donate to needy families or organizations.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131239/Bus-Stop-Charity.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20harity.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12131239/Bus-Stop-Charity.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Leave A Message After The Beep
Would you have guessed that Israelis invented voice mail technology? I think it actually makes sense; some of us know what it's like to have a Jewish mother.

Sushi Lovers
Going to the party capital of the Middle East, you can treat yourself to a number of sushi restaurants. Maybe "a number" isn't the right way to put it. There are more than 100 sushi restaurants in Tel Aviv.

Entrepreneurship
Israel is proud to have the world's highest rate of entrepreneurship of women and people over the age of 55. Talk about empowering a nation!

Good And Bad
Israelis understand that it's important to be healthy... but they also understand that sweets are delicious. It is the world's third highest consumer of vegetables and sweets.

Bauhaus Movement
Tel Aviv is an especially good place to spy out Bauhaus buildings. With the massive number of these buildings, Israel has the most Bauhaus buildings in the world.

There's no shortage of ideas and innovation in Israel. In fact, Israel has the highest amount of startup companies per capita in the entire world.

Antivirus Software
Can you imagine what it would be like not having an anti-virus system on your computer? Well, we can all thank the Israelis for inventing it in 1979 because without it... well we would be in trouble.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122449/Antivirus-Software.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20ftware.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122449/Antivirus-Software.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Chess Masters
Let's clarify, we're talking about chess grandmasters and not just masters. The southern city of Beersheva has the most of these in the world per capita.

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122335/Chess-Masters.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20asters.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122335/Chess-Masters.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)
Mini Subway
Do you want to know how small a subway system could be? Just take a look at the miniature 1.8 kilometer track of the Haifa subway system. How adorable is that? It's like a big train set.

I've been on this.
Reviving A Language
The Hebrew language is synonymous with Israel and for a good reason. Israel became the only country in the world to bring an unspoken language back to full life, and then even make it their national language!

(//%3C/s%3E%3CURL%20url=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122157/Reviving-A-Language.jpg%22%3E%3CLINK_TEXT%20text=%22http://static.dailyforest.com/wp-conten%20...%20nguage.jpg%22%3Ehttp://static.dailyforest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/12122157/Reviving-A-Language.jpg%3C/LINK_TEXT%3E%3C/URL%3E%3Ce%3E)

With its beautiful mohawk, the Hoopoe is Israel's national bird. It is beautiful, and privileged to have enough trees to peck at.

There are only eleven countries in the world that can launch their own satellite into space, and of course, Israel is one of them. The other countries are: Russia, USA, France, Japan, China, UK, India, Iran, North Korea, and Ukraine.

What's worse than terrible-smelling bad breath? Nuclear war, but that's not relevant right now. Israeli scientists have put together a cure for this "ailment", but how can we get it here?

Female Lawyers
Around 44% of lawyers in Israel are women. It wouldn't be right to say that 44% of women in Israel are lawyers, although they might think they are.

Despite recent upheaval regarding its immigration policies, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing country on the planet.

This needs to change.
Lending A Hand
A massive one third of the Israeli population is made up of volunteers. We should all get behind the idea of helping others out without expecting anything in return.

They encourage volunteerism from a young age.
Surviving Cancer Patients
Israel is definitely proud to boast that it has the highest number of surviving cancer patients in the world. It's not just technology that this country is leading the world with.

Unfortunately, Israel's very small population renders your statistics somewhat invalid.
Explore the meaning of "standard deviation" rather than averages (such as per capita).
What you fail to mention is that Israel is a religious based State...which rather takes the shine off things. It may call itself secular, but it is in every respect Jewish at heart.
Nonetheless, credit where it's due; it has achieved a lot in such a small space of time.

You've heard of an iron fist, well this is nothing like it. Israel is the only country in the world to have invented an anti-ballistic missile system that intercepts and destroys rockets headed for its civilian population.
Yet it was Patriot missiles that destroyed Saddam's Scuds...
And much of the Iron Dome technology has been based on that system.
(America loves using Israel as a test bed for some of it's defence initiatives).
The @ Sign Is Not 'At'
When giving your email address to an Israeli, don't tell them 'at' gmail, because they say something else. Instead they've chosen a lovely pastry name to go with it – strudel! So you might hear an email address like "israelidude(strudel)gmail.com.

Happy Country
According the 2018 World Happiness Index, Israel ranked as the 11th happiest country in the world. It placed before other countries like Germany, USA, UK, France and Belgium.

Krav Maga
Israel is also the home of the famous and deadly "krav maga" self-defense martial arts. It is currently employed as a standard part of the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) training. The martial arts system was created in the 1930's by Jews suffering from antisemitism in Europe.

We practiced this a lot in the army.
No Sundays
While we enjoy our weekends and suffer on Monday mornings, in Israel Sunday is just a regular working day. Fine, they do get Fridays off or as half-days, but Sundays are Mondays to them. That sucks!

I didn't see any street food in those pictures. Israel has great street grub and outdoor restaurants.

What statistics do you dispute?
Israel needs to abandon being a Jewish state and develop an Israeli identity. The haredim would never accept that.
When your sample size is small, relative percentages increase.
The most accurate way to measure proportions is to use the standard deviation method.
"In statistics, the standard deviation (SD, also represented by the lower case Greek letter sigma σ or the Latin letter s) is a measure that is used to quantify the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of data values.[1] A low standard deviation indicates that the data points tend to be close to the mean (also called the expected value) of the set, while a high standard deviation indicates that the data points are spread out over a wider range of values. "

Patriot missiles and Israel's iron dome have the same mission, but there are some key differences.
Instead of engaging every inbound missile, the Iron Dome system tracks each one and determines whether it will hit something that needs to be protected as opposed to an unpopulated area of low value. If the system determines that interception is needed, it then calculates the best place to perform this as the falling debris from the in-air destruction can itself be a hazard. Then an interceptor missile is programmed to be at a certain spot at a certain time and is launched from the optimal battery to accomplish this task. No doubt there is a significant amount of embedded electronics to allow the Iron Dome missile to be controlled and maintain the correct path but these systems are likely less powerful and costly than the Patriot versions.

You mean Israel's high survival rate for cancer survivors.
I can tell you that health care delivery and health care advances in Israel are far ahead of Canada. Add to that a healthy Mediterranean diet and lifestyle and it would explain favorable outcomes.
The problem is the manner in which you measure these outcomes is distorted with very small and very large sample sizes.
I have no doubt Israels medical service is one of the best, given the number of Jewish doctors. But as to being THE best...that's a claim very hard to substantiate with a population of 5 million vs 30 million.

I don't doubt health care delivery and cancer treatments are superior to many countries and especially Canada.

I love ethic diversity and a country that really welcomes the world to it's doorstep. In any multicultural country, one needs to always respect that countries values. I guess Australia strives for that everyday. It's really hard yards when foreigners don't feel the need to integrate appropriately. Canada has always been heard in high regard in those aspects.
