My first email system was on a mainframe.



At the time, it was breathtaking technology, but all it did was send text messages to terminals.

I think you mean "primitive".



No attachments. No multiple addressees. No forwarding. Definitely no images.

I guess, on a serious note, the rate of evolution of technology has been breathtakingly fast.



But nobody saw the iPhone and the other smart phones coming. They are THE most influential technology of the 21st century so far.
