Cringeworthy, Fash. I did not relish seeing it on the news. Now it's here too. Ugh. Just a shame.

The police officer should be fired and charged.

I'd do the same to the cop.

In Australia, if an officer did this to a kangaroo, what would be the consequences if any?

Hasta la vista, baby.

And a summons to appear in court for destroying a native animal.

They would be fired?

Any officer that does that should be.

They would be dismissed. And charged.

If he would do that to an animal, what would he do to a person.

Morally bankcrupt.

Would we think twice if this creature was a bullfrog?

He wouldn't need to back up and drive over a bullfrog three times. But, I get your point.

What about all the insects we slaughter when we are on the road? Check out your windshield after the trip. If my Animal Rights activist brother sees this post of mine, he will applaud me. He stopped eating animals.

I hit and killed a deer while driving. I have never derived any tortured a mammal like the cop did.

Yes but in Canada they probably count your ammo when your day is done.

I don't know what police are supposed to do when the encounter an injured animal. I would think contact animal control.

I don't know about Canada, but in Australia we could discharge our firearms to put an animal out of its misery if necessary.

On one occasion we were called out to an incident whereby a horse had broken out of the carrier and its leg was wedged in the trailer's towbar.

It was in distress, and I couldn't bring myself to euthanise it. The female owner was hysterical.

A vet arrived, anaethetised the animal, and extricated its leg, which was not broken. When the horse was revived, it stood up and walked around unscathed.

One very relieved little Constable...

I remember a policeman in BC shot a black bear cub out of a tree in a small city and was disciplined for it..

I know it's not the same because the baby bear was not in misery.

Well, from what I glean in the erstwhile contributions in this forum, it seems Australians are far more protective of their fauna than Canucks.

You would never shoot a koala out of a tree.

I read that cop has been receiving death threats.
