I don't know what the fuss is about it
I put the bars and stars on par with the colonial flags of New France
Relics of history which belong in a museum.
Heck even the province of Quebec is allowed to fly a watered down version of them.
The fleur de lis is their version of the stars and bars
I don't really care if they fly the damn thing

It bugs the fuck out of me the way the flag has been treated this past few years. That flag stood for opposing big government, that was taxing the hell out of the South, and trying to force the South back into the Union. Yes, it was the War of Northern Aggression, not the Civil War. That war was not fought over slavery either, but THEY teach it in schools that way, because they dont want the youngin's to know the truth, or ever repeat such said war. THEY want to hold their power, and by banning the flag, THEY think it will simply go away. WRONG! So of course the youngins dont have a clue about its true intent, and more so focus on slavery and that is what it stands for. I WISH schools would teach the truth.
I'll admit, some groups use it as a tool of hate, and I agree that is wrong. The Sons of Confederate Veterans agree as well. That flag was not to incite hate. The majority of us that fly that flag, do not have hate in our hearts.
This is the best website I know of, that tells the TRUTH about what really went down. And is told by a black man.....

There are pockets in these regions where you could say time has stood still. History portrays the good and the bad in us but we cannot deny the events that happened. They happened. Hiding the confederate flag does not hide the events that happened. I am not for hiding or removing reminders of the tumultuous history that shaped our country today. It is important for the future generations to know that part of our history. By removing these icons or statues, we are denying the future generations the full knowledge that we have come a long way. We are keeping them in the dark as though robbing them of the knowledge. Will they be better for it?

The way I understand it, the "freed" slaves that went North, were met with more hostility than they did in the South. So they either kept going towards Canada, or went back down South, realizing they were treated better down South. A lot of Southern slaves were actually treated fairly well.
