When I was in the military, there were cases where somebody was trying to triangulate our positions while there was a big exercise going on.

Nope... we have 1/3 of the Uranium deposts on the planet and we're tooled up. Many countries might have similar resourses but they don't have the roads to them or the flash hospitals when things go wrong. And they certainly don't have the clean food we do in Australia.

Huang Xiangmo, a long-term Sydney resident, had been a prominent donor to Australia's two major parties before he was blocked from re-entering the country last week -- with his permanent residency visa revoked and a citizenship bid rejected.
"The growth of a giant baby takes time, and Australia still has a long way to go. I understand this," Huang told China's state-run Global Times in an interview published Tuesday.
The property tycoon led one of a series of "reunification councils" that advocate support of Chinese Communist Party policies.
Australian intelligence agencies believe the groups are fronts for influence campaigns designed to skew Australian politics.
China experts and former Australian intelligence officials say the groups take direction from the Chinese Communist Party's United Front Work Department.
Huang said Australian authorities have not sufficiently explained his alleged wrongdoings.
"The wording in the documents sent to me has been vague. I don't understand what they mean and neither does my lawyer and we have had no opportunity to directly challenge them," he said.
Huang said Australian politicians from both the Liberal and Labor parties had accepted his cheques because "they have enough confidence in the legitimacy of these donations".
Relations between Beijing and Canberra have soured after the Australian government introduced a slew of laws to guard against foreign interference in late 2017, amid concerns over China's growing influence in the country's politics, academia and media.
Huang said relations between Canberra and Beijing have "stumbled over the years" because "in a new era of international relations, Australia has not found a position that best meets Australia's national interest".
He also suggested that Australia suffered from an underlying bigotry, saying that "racism and populism have shown signs of rising".
"If you can treat Chinese like this today, you can do the same to Jews and Arabs tomorrow. That's the most dangerous thing," he said.
Huang added that the sudden ban has had a "huge impact" on his family.
"Three generations of my family have lived in Australia for seven years," he said.
"Apart from me, all those in the family are Australian citizens ... Australia is their home."

A fired up Premier Mark McGowan has escalated the war of words with
Speaking on ABC radio, Mr McGowan said the construction giant was seeking a "ridiculous amount of money" and the government would not pay.
However, he refused to comment specifically on reports made by Gareth Parker on 6PR on Monday that before Christmas the State Government had discussed a possible $20 million settlement offer to be paid to the company to end the $300 million dispute.
"I have made no offer, but there has been discussions on both sides," he said.
"There have been lots of discussions with John Holland but I am not going to engage in commercial negotiations via the media," Mr McGowan said.
The $1.2 billion hospital, which opened two years late, was dogged by a string of issues including lead in the pipes and asbestos contamination. John Holland and the State Government have been wrangling over who is liable for the delays and rectification works.
Mr McGowan said he was annoyed John Holland had made the discussions public.
"John Holland has clearly made this public and is obviously seeking a ridiculous amount of money from the taxpayers of Western Australia which we will not pay and we will fight. I have advised them of that."
He said the government was working to ensure the interests of WA taxpayers were protected and would do "whatever it takes" to get the matter resolved, through the courts if necessary.
"They gave us a hospital with lead in the pipes, with asbestos in the roof, with doors that didn't fit and then they are expecting the taxpayers of Western Australia to pay," Mr McGowan said.
"On the other hand the former government did a whole range of contract variations while it was ongoing.
"We are the ones who have been left to clean up the mess. I think the fact that we got the hospital open, fixed the lead in the pipes and we got kids in the hospital within a year or so of coming to office is pretty good."

See, I know this probably has no interest to Canadians which make up the membership here, but our Liberal (same as US Republicans) state government did deals with the Chinese and sent us broke planning on selling Fremantle Port off to the Chinese and our electric company as well.... our Labor government (same as democrats)was voted in and put a stop to all that BS....Quote from: "caskur"

I find the US party politics system quite difficult to fathom in comparison to ours. I'm not suggesting it's better or worse. But it seems the Party is less influential there than here, where the party platform is set in stone, and any deviation will see an MP admonished for disloyalty.
This is an appalling and unsustainable situation in my view.

That is why on big issues there should be Citizen Inituative Referenda.
Like we had to keep the Monarch and later, a vote for homosexual marriage.
