5 shot down by another lunatic with a gun.

A workplace shooting too.

If the shooter was an islamist, Obama would say it's workplace violence.
If the shooter had no gun, there would be no bodies.

Knives, improvised explosives, trucks.
Pretty hard to get 5 with a knife...especially if they see you coming. Running is a good defence.
Improvs are harder than they look.
Trucks perhaps...but again somewhat problematic...starting with where to procure one if you don't own one.
I think leftie politics are to blame for these..
You are special... Its not you... Its the other people..
That kind of thinking justifies the killing of innocents.

It'easier to procure a truck than a firearm. Anyone with an internet connection can build a bomb. There has been mass stabbings all over the world. And London is the acid tossing capital of the world.
Quote from: "Herman"

Not in America.
I'll guarantee you there are more gun shops than truck dealerships.
Has there ever been a mass killing with a knife?
I hate to disagree or agree between Bricktop or brother Herman here, but Brick is right about the gun issue in the US. One of my church mentor moved to California a year or 2 ago and he was surprised they sell them in Walmart, but after a few days it seems like he got used to it and now he said he feels like buying one too.
So in summation, a handful of legally (workplace) disarmed people were killed by an armed coworker who illegally killed them. The so called legal gatekeepers of armed response were a 5-10 minute drive away if the legally disarmed people being killed managed to get the call out.
You got to crack a few skulls to keep making peace time omelettes, apparently, and we're all battery farm hens in the end.
No.
In summation, someone in possession of a lethal weapon that they have neither use nor need for lost his shit and decided to use the gun to vent his perverted wrath and kill 5 innocent people.
No gun. No deaths.

:001_rolleyes:
The problem with that failed logic is that I can name countries with gun control similar to America that don't have mass shootings.
I'm glad I dont live in the states around psychos with guns, instead I live around money laundering asians.
Who resort to guns, knives, and poisons.
Yes, probably drugs. These people need to be jailed for life in shitty prisons, give them a potato sack for a blanket a 1 shit ass meal a day.

In the US A person is 3000 times more like to die of a car accident than a mass shooting.
So drive safe, don't worry too much about mass shootings.

I've asked police to help me before when I thought my life/well-being was endangered & they didn't do anything for me.
There is an argument for at least a limited ownership of firearms.
I agree - assault weapons of all kinds should be banned except for police and military.
But for home use & self-defense, every homeowner/renter should be allowed to have 1 small handgun.
Banning the guns is not an option in america..
Not with all the blacks, mexicans and outpatient care whites roaming around.

Keep them, but let them be free of political interference.

No, you have a firearm fixation where it's not ok for people to defend themselves, get their meat fresh and free roving, while you advocate for a quasi street gang to point muzzles at anyone who disagrees with being stolen from, assaulted, maimed, killed, or finds your barbaric thoughts and actions worthy of being physically countered.
You sir, are a coward, a sellout on humanity and free will, and a geriatric pansy.

Police say the fired worker who killed five people at a manufacturing warehouse in Aurora, Ill., on Friday was able to buy the gun he used because an initial background check didn't catch that he had a prior felony conviction in Mississippi.[/quote]
So basically the existing gun laws should have made it so he couldn't purchase a gun, but the system screwed up

I suggest we have one on the main board for all police threads.

The only person who seems interested in such matters is our resident troll (you know, the one currently in meltdown mode).
I remind you that he stated quite categorically that the reason he came here was to troll me. That is what he is doing. Why create a thread to facilitate his stupidity?
Keep it in RR.
Yet another bureaucratic screwup - Non functional gun control
An initial background check performed on Gary Martin in 2014 (//https) failed to catch a 1995 felony conviction for aggravated assault that would have barred the Aurora, Ill. gunman from purchasing a firearm.
Martin, who police say killed five people and wounded several others at an Aurora warehouse facility on Friday, reportedly passed the background check in January 2014 and was subsequently issued a firearm owner's identification card.
According to Aurora police chief Kristin Ziman, Martin used the card to purchase a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun two months later. It wasn't until he applied for a concealed carry permit five days later that the felony was flagged, thanks to what AP described as "vetting using a more rigorous digital fingerprinting system."
Martin ignored a letter from Illinois State Police demanding he surrender the weapon, CNN reported. It was unclear why law enforcement did not follow up to obtain the gun. "He was not supposed to be in possession of a firearm," said Ziman.
Martin also reportedly had six previous arrests for charges that included domestic battery. His employment was being terminated Friday after 15 years of employment at the company.
Yep.
Gun ownership management works.
No guns. No death by firearms.

Banning the guns is not an option in america..

But this is the main problem in the US, is that poverty, social decay and guns, any one of the three can't be mixed with another; Like a doctor always say one person can still have a good chance of surviving on one kind of sickness, but when 2 or more factors collide together, usually a serious problem occurs.
Yet the worse it gets, the more they believe that GUNS aren't the problem. It's true that people are the biggest problem, but people without guns don't seem to kill each other so effectively.
I was watching some documentary about a black family in america..
They were "poor" and the mother complained about poverty all the time.
But then I looked at the surroundings.. Her family seemed to be living quite comfortably in a nice house.. Atleast 100 square meters..
And...
Our poor people are thin.

Poverty as a hypothesis might work for gang shootings. (Although I prefer a demographic argument which IMO there is more evidence for.)
But poverty has nothing to do with mass shootings. Most of those are people with mental illness who got pissed off about something-- got fired from a job or shot up a school because they got bullied. I would wager anyone that most, nearly all, are middle class.
There are lots of places where guns are just about as easy to get hold of as the US. (remember our old pal Mel had guns in Canada) When it comes to mass shootings there seems to be something more peculiar to America than other places where guns are almost as accessible.
I don't owns guns, but I know some people that do own legal firearms. None of them are wealthy. They've never shot anyone.

Get a can of oven spray... they come with pistol grips... spray your intruder in the eyes. He'll go blind and you'll go to jail for grievous bodily harm...

cops today aren't the same as the old days BT...
They do FA... they only collect road fines... that's it.
I was in Fremantle recently... I was in a dark parking area while Kurt went and got Fish and chips from Kalis... Some yahoos pulled up, jumped out of the car and then started rolling across the roof of other cars... when they started jumping on my car, I beeped the horn, threw opened the door and yelled, "get off my fucking car"... one of the guys apologized and they all took off on foot to Kalis. I had to wait for Kurt to come back and we rang the cops. They didn't come. We waited for the owners of the car that had a big dent in the roof, told them what happened to their car... gave the reggo of the offending marauders and my phone number if they wanted a witness for court.
How interesting.
Why do you think they didn't turn up?

It's a minor incident to them...
I was attacked... one jumped on my car (that's an attack)... I was a nervous wreck... there were 5 men and one woman....
I should have spoken to the police, and not Kurt... They would have heard my distress.
I was in the dark, by myself when 6 idiots showed up. That's police attention as far I'm concerned.
Anyway, I photographed their car. Rich little white boys, not poor black bastards.
I got their number. I haven't been contacted so obviously the people aren't worried about fixing their car roof. ..
It's a minor incident, because they are loaded up dealing with more demanding requirements for their services.
If you want police to attend every civil disturbance, crime, domestic violence, robbery, drug overdoes, fire, accident, lost dog, lost child, lost wallet or lost mind, kindly write to your local State MP demanding more police officers be employed.
Your taxes will be increased accordingly, or other services will be curtailed. I believe that police management estimate a cost of around $100,000 per annum for every operational police officer.
And then, of course, you may need to ask the Courts to do THEIR job, as most offences are perpetrated by repeat offenders. Especially in WA, I believe.

Yep, cops just sit in main stations at computers waiting for hard evidence to be delivered to them...
We have an out of control public doing what they like, when they like.
What about 2015 when our Crewman got stolen out of our garage? No police attendance then either...
It turned up 10 days later dumped in Greenwood with bleach poured all over the dash...
Our car collected two speeding tickets in that time... naturally we didn't have to pay them...
Here is the fool who stole our ute looked like..
What a terrible photo. You'd think with all the money cops collect in fines, they could get better cameras, yes?
See, I do all the police work for them... where's my paycheck, huh?

I'm missing lots of words this afternoon. I might go have a cool shower and wash my hair and freshen up.

It cost cops over $3,500 to take someone to court in the hopes they're prosecuted and as BT says, courts let them go...
meanwhile the public bear the brunt of petty crime.
My respect for courts are quite low....
