Due to terrorism or solar events

QuoteElectricity, fuel, clean drinking water, wastewater services, food/refrigeration, emergency medical services, communications capabilities, and some access to financial services have been identified as critical lifeline services that would be needed to sustain local communities and prevent mass migration.

How do you think you'd fare if the power went out for 2-12 months?

Australia only really has one reactor so that kind of localized contamination would be minimal but we're very much a JIT economy and rely on a number of imports.

We'd still be decimated though. A lot of rationing and crime, particularly burglary. 2-4 weeks might be manageable but not months. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the capital cities.

That would be unimaginable.

Depends the time of year, winter I'd be fucked. But I could survive at least a month I think, or more depending on food.

Do you think this has anything to do with the magnetic north pole moving/shifting 5 times faster right now than it normally does?

I think it has to do with humans deriving perverse pleasure from making other humans suffer.

But that's just me.

If it happened in our harsh winter months, there would be a lot of deaths.

Nuclear plants would melt down, chemical plants which caught on fire couldn't be extinguished, transport and logistics would grind to a halt with little available fuel, no way to pump it, and a sizeable number of vehicles rendered permanently immobile due to electrics and electronic chips fried, crops would rot due to the inability to process.

Freight ships incapacitated. Satellites fried. Forest fires unable to be stopped would turn into infernos and devour homes and infrastructure.

Lots of dysentary and disease from untreated water.

It would be hell.
