It seems many come out of the woodwork to catch the fever, enjoy the thrill of the win but most of the time cannot care less.
I have a lot of respect for the young people who start with a dream and then go on to become successful adult athletes and work hard to get to the top. What they do is not easy. As you can see, a lot of them suffer later in life mentally and physically from all the physical trauma.
I believe young people in sports learn the value of losing with dignity and humility from consistent success. More children should pursue sports.
It would have been sweet if they won at home. The sports bars in Vancouver were standing room only on Thursday night.

That is irrelevant. It is a TEAM sport. Who cares where the players are from. It is the team effort that triumphed here. Even in the workplace, team effort is vital. If you are a good team player, you will encounter more success than if you were not a good team player.

I'd much rather follow the NBA than the NHL now.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman trashed & fixed the professional game so that either his favorite big market teams or his Southern strategy upstarts win now. Not even small market Americsn NHL teams stand much of a chance of wiñning the Stanley Cup anymore.
I'd much rather follow basketball now because at least peripheral teams including Toronto have a chance. Upsets actually hapoen.

OK, w/o trying to offend anyone, I am highly impressed with the product the NBA puts out.
The final games if the NBA were ckean hard fought exciting spectacles of talent and showmanship.
After watching professional basketball I think it us a worthy successor to hockey in Canada
Much of the excitement and entertainment value which hockey used to provide is no longer there.
On the other hand basketball has really excelled.
it is what ice hockey used to be in this country & in the NHL.
