Went to a performance last night - my first ever musical.
Very slick and funny...less so if you are of a religious persuasion.
Definitely a good night out.

I am soooo overdue for a musical comedy.

Try it, you might be surprised. Bricktop was.
I've never been to a musical...because I never wanted to GO to a musical.
However, our daughter decided it was time and this was my birthday present.
It was an excellent night of entertainment. The performance was sparkling, and the storyline was sharp, witty and very contemporary.
I'm glad I went.
And Thiel...I doubt there was a heterosexual male on stage at any time. But that only added to the fun and satire.

It's a global sensation. Packed houses every night, wherever it's playing.

I thought you said there was no gay day parade in Adelaide. :icon_wink:
And happy birthday brother.

Does the musical make fun of the LDS church?

Somebody once told me if you don't want to go to something like a party, but go anyway, you end up having a great time.
I found that to be true.

Happy birthday BT.
Was the playwright Moronic?
Happy birthday, you hoary scamp.
Bricktop, have you been to dinner theatre?
Thanks for the birthday greetings, all.
Yes, I did go to a theatre dinner once. A LONG time ago. Around 1972 or 3. It was a music hall style of theatre.
I don't think I enjoyed it, if memory serves...but that may have been because the meal was pretty ordinary.

There are undiscovered Aboriginal tribes in the vast expanse of the Australian outback that KNEW someone would ask that punny question. I'm not saying that YOU'RE predictable, though.

Does the musical make fun of the LDS church?
Depends on how you look at it. In a way, it does...but oddly, it celebrates faith no matter the source. It certainly pokes it's tongue at mormonism, but at the same time implies that if a religion provides faith and happiness, no matter what it's source, then it can't be all bad.
It is a VERY clever piece of social commentary.

It is still a fruity musical.
Oh, it's fruity alright.
But in a sharp and funny way.

I will have to take your word for it, because I have no intention of going to a musical.

I'm sure there are but, until they discover tablets of their own, they're obviously keeping mum.
In the meantime, that 17-year old "Elder," over there by the poker machine, is smoking a joint.
Go arrest him, why don't you?
Quote from: "Blurt"
Go arrest him, why don't you?
(a) I am not a police officer.
(b) It is not an arrestable offence.
(c) He is a juvenile, so could not possibly be an elder.
(d) I don't care.
