Wow, lucky there was light traffic on it at the time.  



Are you familiar with the legendary original Tacoma Narrows bridge in Washington state, Fash?  It was known as Galloping Gertie due to its poor design, and did have a spectacular collapse in 1940, less than six months after it was opened.  No one was killed.

Here's the famous Tacoma Narrows .. no one killed



Since built it rolled an amount varying with  wind strength ... earning it its name from some expression common at the time ... then only 6 months old it got wind that was more it could survive

The collapse occurred hours after a typhoon swept through Taiwan, but it wasn't clear if the storm triggered the collapse.

I hate crossing bridges. I love photographing them though. Some of my rellies are engineers.
