Banning plastic bags and straws in Canada has no affect on plastic trash in the oceans.

International researchers estimate that as much as 73 percent of the garbage in the Atlantic Ocean originates from Chinese merchant vessels, Canada's National Post reported on Tuesday.
Researchers from Canada and South Africa studied waste washed up on the beaches of Inaccessible Island, an island in the heart of the southern Atlantic Ocean, on a series of trips that began in 1984.
Nearly three-quarters of the trash they sifted through originated in Asia, produced by China. The research challenges long assumptions that plastic debris at sea primarily originates on land.
"When we were [on the island] last year, it was really shocking how much drink bottles had just come to dominate," lead author Peter Ryan told the BBC.
"What was really shocking was how the origin had shifted from largely South American, which is what you would expect from somewhere like Inaccessible Island, because it's downwind from South America, to predominantly Asian."
In addition, 90 percent of the debris recovered was time-stamped within the last year, and it would take an average of three to five years for that same garbage to make it from land to sea.

To save the oceans from plastic pollution Chinese merchant need to stop throwing their refuse overboard.

There are WW1 and WW2 wrecks at the bottom...Leaking oil... Plus Nazi-Germanys chemical weapon arsenal which soviets dumped there after WW2.

Isn't that interesting. To reduce plastic pollution in the oceans, Chinese merchant marine sailors have to be trained not to be litter bugs.

I like your idea brother, but it's hopeless when it comes to Chinese, they're the type of people that would never be civilized unless they feel threatened. My workshop is located at an industrial plaza and 90% of the tenants are Chinese, the management office has mentioned all tenants are supposed to park at the back of the plaza, but they all still park at the front, leaving no vacancy for customers to park. Then comes the garbage issue, tenants are supposed to put their garbage in the dumpster, but people just put it on the ground next to it or around it causing all the rubbish to be blown everywhere.

Will do, though I'll be honest and having some doubts whether I can manage it or not since I'm one of the few people that parks at the back, while about 90% of them parks at the front entrance, it'll definitely take some time to get this all sorted out. Think I should start with the dumpsters first, especially if someone is trespassing and throwing garbage on our property.

You don't have to set a cctv like you are some security guard. I am sure you know who is parked where they should not be. Stick a not under their wiper blade. That freaks out people. Would be nice if NATO fires a missile onto one of those Chinese ships if this shit keeps up.
How about they just put a recycling dumpster or two on those ships.
Some people are so selfish and irresponsible.
I guess some people needs a kick in the ass in order to help themselves.
I cant stand litter bugs. You need me to come up there? I'll even leave the bubble gum at home
Tell ya what, if you have a logo for the industrial plaza, you could or I could easily make up a letter, pretending its from property management lol. Have it state that such tenant was caught on camera, and that the next time caught, its a $500 fine for cleanup up fees or some shit lol.
I think me and you should join Zetsu and go say howdy to these lazy pricks.

Than you have to shame them. If you see them doing it, say something. Embarrass the hell out of them. Nobody likes getting caught being a lazy slob. They will change their ways.
I'm having the same thoughts too, think it's time I should buy a new surveillance camera and use it to monitor the parking lot and the dumpster area and forward it to property management.
Do it. And when you have video of tennants being lazy assholes, take it to them and say, I got something I want to show you. Remain calm when you do it. They will park their cars where they are supposed to and put their garbage in the dumpster. Trust me brother, it will work.
Thanks brother, now I know what to do ac_cool
Let us know how it went.
They won't do it again. Same with the garbage. If you see who is doing it, tape a not to their door telling them to stop. It will brother, trust me.
That sounds like a good idea. The dumper part might be hard to catch, but putting a sign on it telling people to not litter should solve most of the problem. ac_cool If the issue still persist think I'll just buy the camera.
Buy a sign saying the dumpster is being monitored. That should do the trick.

Really appreciate all the support, advices and tips from all you guys. It's been a few days and I've talked to my work partner(basically my 2nd brother) about the issue at our plaza, he told me to just let the property management to handle the issue since we do pay them half a grand every month to make our plaza a better place. But if the issue still persist think I should start putting up a sign at the dumpster like Seoulbro said, or leave a note on their windshield or doors as Herman and Fash had mentioned, and I'd like to get down to business like what Odinson and Blazor had brought up but it's just not the best idea for now, come to think about it they're my neighbours and I'll have to deal with them everyday if I pissed them off lol, and the problem with chinks is most of them are too damn stupid to realize their own wrong doing.

Good point, you are just a tennant. Tell the owner and see if he or she does anything about it. I don't think they will because it aint their problem. As long as they get their frickin rent, they don't care. It's you and your brother's problem. Which is why you and your brother will more than likely have to handle this yourselves.

My brother and I do own the unit, but still pay $500 per month for the management office to run the place. If they won't do anything guess we'll have no choice but to take care of it.

Give the building owners a chance.
I took some pictures of the trash around the dumpster and plaza and forward it to the management office's email last night, so far this morning they emailed everyone in the plaza a bit of warning to not litter and keep the place clean. Lol but that's about it and they won't be sending anyone over to enforce the policy, guess it's still better than nothing. Mean while my brother is kind of angry about me getting involved in this issue and doesn't want me to go around stirring crap with the neighbours, lol.

Your neighbours are assholes. Tell your brother not to worry about it. They were never your friends anyway.
Somehow it seems to be working, I mean I noticed yesterday there's still some pieces of cardboard/garbage in the middle of the plaza, but not around or next to the dumpsters anymore. Lol think next phase I should tell them my customers can't find any vacant spot in the front parking lot.

I fully agree too, though I have to admit my side of the plaza, where me and my neighbours are located, we tend to be more tidy compared to the opposite end of the plaza where there's a gambling den, then a dirty mechanics shop with their junk cars, tires placed all over the parking lot and a glass manufacturing workshop with sheets of glass placed all over the front yard, it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt...

Tbh I never really thought about it, but now that you've mentioned it now all makes sense. Before we moved in, the management office declared retail isn't allowed but people still open a clothing store and the illegal gambling place.

I'll gotta admit the plaza itself is pretty mediocre, but now that I switched from ecommerce to doing custom designs for apparel, surprisingly the location is quite strategic as we're located at the center of a mid-level to wealthy business district, just wish my neighbours aren't so sloppy.

Lol but that's about it and they won't be sending anyone over to enforce the policy, guess it's still better than nothing. Mean while my brother is kind of angry about me getting involved in this issue and doesn't want me to go around stirring crap with the neighbours, lol.
I can understand your brother not wanting to rock the boat. But, they wouldn't want you parking where their customers park either.
When you have industrial next to retail, it can be a problem.
Tbh I never really thought about it, but now that you've mentioned it now all makes sense. Before we moved in, the management office declared retail isn't allowed but people still open a clothing store and the illegal gambling place.
They don't build a Best Buy next to a foundry. You may not be in the best location.
I'll gotta admit the plaza itself is pretty mediocre, but now that I switched from ecommerce to doing custom designs for apparel, surprisingly the location is quite strategic as we're located at the center of a mid-level to wealthy business district, just wish my neighbours aren't so sloppy.
Your business model changed. You know better than we do if it's the right location. What does your brother think about the location.
He seems to like to too, at least overall it's pretty convenient for him to find a closeby location for a part-time job and doing door to door marketing for our business. And my mom only cares about the supermarket down the street, lol.

Hey brother, I want to derail the topic briefly. Are you or your family travelling to HK or having relatives visit from HK? Are you concerned about the coronavirus? Fash is heading to Taiwan in a couple of days.

My 2nd brother will be going back there before the end of January, while my dad will be travelling back during mid-March. About the new virus it's hard not to be concerned, but HK and the world have tackled SARS, and I believe the US is quite close to finding the cure. Though my biggest concern is there's a huge respiratory mask shortage in HK atm. I guess little can be done for the moment except aways wear your mask when going out, stay away from crowded places and avoid outdoor supermarkets or damp dirty places at all cost.

Naw, we tend to only sell Japanese stationery, statue anime figures, gifts, etc. Business would have been possible if Canada Post didn't charge a flat rate of $20 for the smallest parcel. ac_unsure

Sadly yea, I can understand most of the high pricing is caused by Canada's low population density, but assume their delivery methods could be more efficient.

Couldn't be any more true, a lot of the staff there seem to give you the impression they hate working there, though it's still toleratable. My biggest concern is they charge $20 or more for shipping a parcel as small as a pack of erasers outside of southern Ontario/Quebec, while China's couriers can deliver their goods from Asia to Canada all for less than a dollar, a lot of things just doesn't make sense.

I'd support privatization for them both, even if the wage of China is close to 1/3 of Canada's, their courier's cost no more than 1/9 of Canada Post's rates.
