They do that in this country also. They are technically not permitted under Canadian law, since we are guaranteed the right to free and unobstructed travel, but the Supreme Court did allow these check stops for "the greater good."
The newer recent changes completely eroded our civil liberties big time, the most important change being that the police no longer need to form reasonable suspicion to fuck your shit up, as seen in article linked in my OP...

The police wanted this ability so they could effectively go after people that cause serious accidents, and then leave the scene of the crime. That was the intent for that law.
Of course it was just a matter of time before they started to randomly enter peoples homes and demand samples, simply because you were out driving.

That said, since there is no requirement for reasonable suspicion now, the police don't even need a complaint. They can enter your home randomly and test you, simply because they 'feel like it.'
When I posted my concerns about this here one year ago, of course Bricktop got uppity with me, claiming these laws are great laws.
For cops that like to abuse power, of course these are great laws.

We are fucked here in the states phone wise. ALL digital transactions, phone, text, email, search engine history, etc, are stored at a massive database that was built within the past few years. It was stored before, but they had to build something big enough to hold EVERYTHING.
This is another reason they wanted to get away from all old tech, like analog tv, land line phone, analog cell phone, etc., because this way it can all be tracked and captured. Plus other nefarious reasons.

Religion is one thing you can count on that will turn people into robots who cannot think logically for themselves, and will only recite what they have been taught from a fictional book.
I think we all agree that drinking and driving is not good. That said, what somebody does in the privacy of their own home is their business. The article I linked clearly shows just how easily civil liberties can be eroded by small, special interest groups.
Cases like these are currently working through their way to the Supreme Court of Canada, and I fucking hope when it comes judgement time that this bullshit is quashed fucking hard and fast.

That was in reference to a lot of things, not just alcohol lol. Like sometimes you look at some of us, and wanna say something foul sometimes about something, but resist lol.
I know how you feel Fash, and its fine you feel that way. But I truly hope you dont truly wanna wish that upon society as a whole. A lot of things are totally fine in moderation and depending upon who is doing it. Some folks just hate things they may be going through, and turn to things, or just wanna liven things up a bit. As long as it turns them into a positive state and not a negative one, Im ok with that.
