A major flaw/oversight of Vancouver planners is they haven't put in the proper infrastructure to accommodate them. ie there aren't proper lanes or stops for them on city streets.
And Vancouver airport is a complete mess with perrenial construction. There's no place for them to park or pickup customers for them.
The mentality of those in charge in Vancouver is...if it looks good in your mind or in advertising then it has to be good in real life.
I suspect they smoke Too much marijuana.
Everything they implement here is all fucky & badly planned.
In that regard I admire places like Alberta.
Because they seem to do everything right, on time & much less expensively.
You are shit out of luck Joe. Because of your long dark history of criminal harassment and stalking Uber can't offer you a part time position. You will have to find another way to supplement your Old Age Pension.

Are you upset because I highlighted your chronic alcholism to the ladies over at SG?
Sorry Herm, but you constantly bragged and bragged and bragged about how much barrelwash you drink, dude.
You wrote about here and over in SG long before I even touched on the subject Herm.
So for all intents and purposes it is in the public domain and is fair game.
So ifya didn't want others to discuss your alcoholism you shoulfa kept yer trap shut Herm.
Nobody even had ta know about it You voluntarily divulged that information yourself.
Old Joe is really having a meltdown about getting caught in a very serious crime. He is looking at ten years in the penn. A sixty five year virgin who cannot fight will not last a week in a max security facility. He will be dead.

He will get buggerd to hell
Nobody in their sixties just starts stalking strangers and their families. I guarantee Joe has a long history of criminal harassment and he is well known to police. In fact, the RCMP are probably monitoring his online activities. That would explain why he is angry and embarrassed that Blurt exposed his criminality and Herman warns us about what a danger Joe is.
Who is this "Joe" person? Does he use another handle? Has anybody contacted the police about this internet predator?

Why the fuck should the state subsidise private enterprise?
Uber and Lyft is a good thing for Vancouver. I do not understand why Joe is so bias against riding sharing in Vancouver. Such a fag. Taxi industry are apparently launching legit action. They can burn.

He's biased because they won't hire criminal stalkers like him. And yes, he is a fag.

Well seoulcuck,
Blurt & its brother actually boasted long ago on VF that their mom was a waitress at the Playboy Club in Montreal long before i merely pointed it out others.
So if the individual has larrady voluntarily posted this information in an anonymous public forum, that is not divulging personal information about them.
They've already done it to themselves.Blurt already acknowkedged my account of the events at SG however reluctantly. But you wouldn't know that since you're unwilling to register over there like Shen, Herman & Fashionista have because you're a coward & a cuck. You don't want your ideas held up to scrutiny. Youre comfortable in this forum because everyone agrees with you.
What I did is essentialy the same as you constantly regurgitating NeoCon crap you read from the National Post or Toronto Sun and posting it on the bc. The information was known, was not private & therefore was in the public domain .
So that's not stalking, but regurgitation like you're always in the habit of doing on bc, seoulcuck.
Tell your lies to the judge Joe. You are a serial criminal stalker who got caught and now you are going to do hard time. You will get killed in the penn.
It logged me out. Anyway, old Joe is going to do penn time for his criminal harassment and homosexual stalking guys on forums.

I think uber & lyft will certainly help you in the area of Vancouver where you live, TeeWee.
I think asal lives there & Eddie/smp often brags that he cruises the commercial strip in your area.
What I think will happen tho, is the typical uber/lyft driver will smarten up & realize his bread & butter is downtown Vancouver/East Van & the airport and congregate there. So outside of your area, there still might end up being a shortage of uber rides such as Pitt Meadows, Langley, White Rock, etc.. Plus they have to buy an adfitional permit for every municipality they operate in.
I mean from the uber driver's standpoint, why bother going to these outlying areas if your customer base is 1/10th or 1/20th of downtown, they pay way more in gas, its much greater wear and tear on the vehicle to travel 80 km for a trip to Abbotsford than a 15 k trip to the airport? The smart uber driver is just gonna get a permit to pickup in Vancouver & Richmond then forget about everywhere else. At least I would. That would be a convenient excuse for the driver to say "sorry. but my permit only allows me to pickup in Vancouver & the airport."
There's no sense to do 1 trip way the hell out there if the driver could do 5 trips or more in the same period of time & earn more revenue while spending less on gas on putting less stress in the engine brakes & body of the vehicle. If you don't own the vehicle & somebody else pays for the gas no worries. But if you own the vehicle & pay for repairs and gas it's a different story.
Joe why are you posting as a guest? What happened to your Joe account? It's obvious it's you.

He is wanted by the police for multiple counts of criminal harassment. When Joe disappears from these forums this year, he will be in a federal penitentiary.

You are right for a change.
A guy could make money where I live driving through Uber, provided they keep the rates to area standards. Castlegar airport is 20-25 minutes away from me, and it cost me $95 for a one way ride via taxi...

In a nutshell, the less distance a driver has to travel, the more rides he can do in a shorter period of time.
So yeah, somebody like Tee Wee could make decent money if he just stuck to downtown during peak hours.
I drove somebody to Whistler today & probably made slightly over $100.
That was like at least 150 miles if driving and 4 hours of ny time
If I did 8 trips in ir near Vancouver in the same amt if timeI could net $250.
Shorter distances & less time spent in the drivers seat means bigger orofits for the driver.
Don't you find its the same in truck driving?
Less distance travelled translates into less money spent on gas, less time on the road more money in your pocket.

Generally speaking, yes... The vast amount of my trucks work is billed out at an hourly rate, unlike long haul trucks, so the less I do while on the customers clock, the more I make...

I would not wanna be an uber driver.
The profit margins are so shitty.
And uber reduced its commissions so the driver hardly makes any profit.
Driver has a vehicle that may have cost him $30,000 to $80,000 to purchase.
Unless he bought it outright hows he gonna pay it off?
A guy is better off doing food delivery for uber eats.
Some of them I've spoken with make 2 to 3 times take home pay than a limo or taxi driver.
Food delivery could money in dt Vancouver cuz he could just deliver in 3 mile radius & he wouldnt have to drive out to Langley to make his measley $50.
dt vancouver is ideal cuz the population density is high and the distances are short meaning mire trips less gas. and no chauffeur or vehicle permits needed to buy.
In a nutshell creepy old Joe is unemployable for any job serving the public because of his lengthy criminal record for stalking/harassment.

No money to be made driving for Uber. I think Uber takes something like 25% commission from the fare, which is ridiculous. If I run my truck through a dispatch, they'll typically take less than 10%.
The only way to make this work, would be to take it "underground" like the Chinese community has done for years in and around Vancouver, running for a decent fare hopefully, and cash only.
Another important issue that could occur, is what would happen should you cause a catastrophic problem... You are technically an independent now, and as such you are running your own company with you as employee. I would imagine 99.9% of people are doing this as a sole proprietorship, which is something I'd never dream of doing with my truck, even though I could. I run as a Limited Liability Corporation, which should at least prevent me from becoming homeless should something occur, and I was found liable... ICBC has been known to nullify insurance under certain circumstances.
Forming an LLC is extra work, hassle, and cost, not to mention corporate income taxes are quite involved to the point of having to pay an accountant to do them.
This extra hassle and expense is why most Uber drivers wouldn't incorporate, but mark my words: That can eventually cause a problem for someone...
What do you mean underground. In Russia and Ukraine there are more ghost taxis than registered cabs.

Chinese in Richmond and Vancouver have long had their own underground "taxi" service here... Like Uber, but off the record.

Yup. The Chinese like to deal with their own, so these are personal cars owned by other Chinese run in much the same way that Uber does, except under the radar as best they could...
They try to set up stings every once in a while to fine them, but when Richmond and Vancouver are both over 50% Chinese, good luck with that!

The authorities broke up an underground ride service in Toronto a few years ago. Judging by the names, it seemed mostly South Asian, but the drivers came from various ethnic backgrounds.

And yet there are a lot of legitimate fully licensed shuttle services in Richmond located near the airport.
These cater towards Chinese tourists.
They prefer Chinese drivers for communication purposes.
I drove a wealthy Chinese family once to the private jet terminal in Richmond.
He ordered 5 large limos and vans.
He was a generous tipper and gave each of us drivers $20 USD for our services.
Contrary to common stereotypes the Chinese are not cheap.
At least the rich ones seem to tip decently & were friendly towards me.
I have found the majority of them to be polite.
I some ways, I am scared of going to prison for the rest of my life. But, then I think about the gay secks I will be getting. ac_lovestruck
