...is named Esso, simply because it's the phonetic pronunciation of S and O, which originates from the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey?
It's called Exxon in the US though...
We used to have Esso Petrol Stations but haven't for decades now.

They've kept Esso alive here though!
That said, Petro-Canada is the only sole remaining gas station 'entity' that isn't foreign owned... I believe Suncor owns Petro Canada.
The rest are American, Euro, or Chink.
We have BP, we have Shell... We used to have Ampol and Golden Fleece
I bought petrol for $1.06 two days ago. That is the lowest I have paid in 5 years.
It's 59.9 at a Centex near my house.
Yay, cheap gas! Thanks China!
I always go to the supermarket gas stations, they are mucu cheaper than exxon texaco chevron shell
We used to have Esso´s... Now they are St1´s or ABCs.

Esso have positively the worst consumer gas stations in Vancouver.
Usually Inefficient, often of stock, poor quality selection, bad customer service - not always but often.
Gas pumps break down, employees forget to put paper in them when u request a receipt.
Stores are usu dirty.
They'd rate as 'Brand X' of the gas stations.
Chevron often has the best cleanest operations in Vancouver.
I hate the shell guy who comes to help you gas up your car..
What a dumb, useless job..

Still 99.9 here.
BC... Not a Province for the poor.

I do. If someone can't fuel up their own car, they shouldn't be driving!
On a related note, Richmond and Coquitlam both have bylaws in place stating that an attendant must pump your gas for you, although that requirement is loosely observed. It stems back to decades ago, about preserving jobs, and has nothing to do with safety.
Oddly enough, the Taghum Shell here in the Koots is still full serve. I was taken by surprise when they started filling up my truck! I think that's the only one in the entire region that does that here though...

You beauty.
Actually, the cheap gas has nothing to do with China.
That's a battle between the Arabs and the Russians, who've then decided to dump a bunch of cheap oil into the marketplace.
Already started just before the World got the Shanghai Shivers...
LoL @ Shanghai Shivers...
We have petrol stations called "Liberty"... as well.

Really? Christ, that's more American than America itself, and I don't even think they have 'Liberty' gas (petrol) stations!
We have a feature called FUEL WATCH which tells us where the cheapest Petrol is everyday... we've had it for decades. Now our Eastern States are copying us
Fuel Watch metro average price atm is $1.01

The old pumps... You had to pump the gas into a glass tank on top of the pump..
Just so you know how much you are putting in.
I understand why there was a need for the pump supervisor..
These things..

I always take public transit when I'm in Vancouver..
SC let's me ride his bus for free.

I like Esso. They take PC Optimum points which I collect. Some of them have a touchless carwash. My car is nice and clean.

The lack of freeways in vancouver is ridiculous how do you get from hwy 99 to hwy 1 without spending an hour in city street traffic? At least calgary and Edmonton have ring roads
Imagine how easy it would be to move from one town to the next if we had big, straight roads..
I mean well lit, 3 lane each direction roads that dont have any curves..
Our roads are primitive dirt roads when compared to the central-european road-network.
When I become the president, I will build one big road through the entire length of Finland...
And then have all cities and people moved on the side of the road.

Traffic is one of the reasons I left that shithole last October...
I left it nine Septembers ago. People were still bugging me for spare change at the airport as I left. Anyone who tries to sell you the reason Batman must be Chinese because he's rich obviously never spent any time in Vancouver.

It's disgraceful what happened to Vancouver. I was born there actually (St. Paul's), but one knows when it is time to go...
Vancouver only works now for those that are extremely rich, or extremely poor.
