Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe condemned what he called a "misguided protest" outside the Regina home of the province's chief medical officer of health.



Moe said Dr. Saqib Shahab has worked tirelessly to protect the province's residents throughout the pandemic and should not be subjected to harassment from a "group of idiots."



In a written statement released late Saturday, he said those who disagree with his government's decisions should take their issues up with him or a local legislator rather than going after a "dedicated public servant and his family."



Moe previously came to Shahab's defence after he said a speaker at a rally outside the provincial legislature made racist comments about the top doctor in December.



He described the speaker's comments as "beneath contempt."



Now, Moe says he has a message for those who are taking aim at Shahab.



"This harassment of Dr. Shahab and his family at their home is simply unacceptable, sickening and wrong," he said. "To those that did this — you should be ashamed of yourselves and your actions."

The Broward School District reportedly caught some of its remote-working teachers carrying on their personal, private lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a Tuesday report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.



"One teacher is pictured at her daughter's destination wedding in Jamaica," the report revealed. "Another attended a political rally for Joe Biden. Others were pictured with cocktails in restaurants or enjoying a Disney or beach vacation with family or friends."



The resulting information from the district's research was used in an arbitration hearing held last week with the Broward Teachers Union, which has challenged the district's decision to cease remote work assignments for a majority of teachers.



Stephanie Marchman, a lawyer representing Broward Schools, said, "If individuals on remote assignment can go to a Biden rally or to Animal Kingdom or to a luncheon, they can safely return to in-person teaching."

But some days it seems like the people with the megaphones are waiting, salivating at the thought everything could go to hell in a handbasket.



Oh, if only we could do another field hospital story.



How about hospitals overwhelmed, personal protective equipment in short supply, the government's modest reopening an irresponsible exercise in playing with fire?



Just serve up something really disturbing. It's been almost a year and we haven't had the real viral inferno yet. Not here. Not yet.



I'm looking at a graph right now. The devil is in the details but there is no devil today.



Alberta has the best looking graph of daily COVID-19 cases outside the Atlantic provinces.



Surely this means something. It's not pop the bubbly time but it's not time to crawl into a dark corner and ponder our impending doom.



Two months ago, give or day a few days, there were 1,876 daily cases.



The latest number is 195 cases. Read that one carefully. You need a parachute if you want to jump to that arithmetic.



At the end of December, 938 people with COVID were in hospital. Now it's dropped by more than half. The number is 427.



At the end of December, 154 suffering with the virus were in intensive care. Now it's 78 people. Down by almost half.



The number of those being tested who are found to be positive?



Two months or so ago it was 11.15 per cent. Now, it's 3.2 per cent. Some report it's even lower.



What happened?



Maybe most Albertans really did change their behaviour.



Maybe in their private lives. where no one is looking over their shoulder with a ticket book, a whole lot of folks are exercising that old-fashioned virtue....personal responsibility.
