This is a "Global World" now, and there are no borders anymore. We are NOT permitted to erect borders anymore, as per UN policy.
There are virtually no sovereign Nations that currently exist, that could have shut their borders, even if they wanted to, as per UN laws.
You WILL get the Kung Fu virus, eventually. You will probably live.
Shutting down the whole World makes no sense, since we cannot stop the virus anyhow.
Protect the elderly, but more importantly... Address the real issue!~
Chinks and their Wet Markets, and the absolutely disgusting Chink practices that permitted shit like this to take off in the first place.
Chinks, propane torching live animals for "that good taste" and all the other disgusting shit that these bug people do... THAT is a problem.
Bats, Cats, Dogs and Rats... These dumb Chinks think eating that shit will make their four inch dicks hard. It WON'T!
That is all.
SARS was no different...
Chinks torturing animals for edible fun!
It originated in the same place too! Wet Markets...
I could post some vids, but they would be removed, and I would be banned.

Little known fact - Russia closed its border to China, when viral outbreaks started surfacing in other countries it closed its borders to them too. As of today, 438 recorded cases, 17 recovered and only one death. Not bad for a country with nearly 150 million souls in it. Similarly, Singapore slammed its borders shut the minute they got wind of the Wu Flu. 509 cases, 152 recovered, 2 deaths... and that's in a country where people are quite literally living on top of each other. Italy on the other hand (who did not close their borders) currently enjoying a total of 63,927 cases, 7,432 recovered and over 6,000 corpses to keep their organ grinders busy. I guess there's something to be said for walls after all.
Tell your governments.

Ask yourself this; if the current coronavirus is designated #19 and we also know that SARS is a coronavirus as well, what are the seventeen other coronavirii that are flying under the radar?
I think the 19 was represented as 19 from the year 2019... it started in 2019. That was the impression I was under but I'm not 100% sure.

Incidentally Fashionista, does Taiwan have wet markets like China?
And do they consume wild animals like Mainland Chinese?
its noticeable that all these viruses come from Mainland China & not Taiwan.
Did Taiiwan get rid of wet markets?
And unlike mainland China, did Taiwan 'upgrade' their diets such that they don't consume wild animals from open markets?
Whats also noticeable is the disease ibfection rates are much lower in Taiwan.

This is what people don't seem to understand. Most likely because they are not seeing the reality of the situation in hospitals --happening right now-- on social media...
...another sad situation people are so ignorant to even think about...docs and nurses are human beings too...and some of them are over worked, will catch this virus and die if hospitals exceed their limit. There are not enough docs and nurses.

Taiwan has lively night markets with amazing food and reasonably priced goods..
But, the exotic animal trade is illegal in Taiwan as is killing and eating dogs.
It's hard to judge. Hong Kong's population density is at least 10-20 times higher than of the average Canadian city and still haven't closed their borders to the mainland, yet their rates are about the same as Canada.

They're not even mentioning the death rate on TV news now. They USED to say, the death rate was 1.8% which is now an out-of-date figure. A lot, if not most, don't listen to the news anymore anyway.

I'm not too sure tbh. The biggest concern is Hong Kong's chief executive Carrie Lam(basically CCP's puppet) says it's discriminative to close its own borders against the mainland, I just hope it's still not too late.

I know how viruses work and transmit, and the simple fact is that this will spread to almost everyone, eventually, worldwide.
You can't contain it. It is impossible to contain.
Thousands of flights are still active, all around the world, at this very moment, bringing people "home"...

Chinks and their Wet Markets, and the absolutely disgusting Chink practices that permitted shit like this to take off in the first place.

I mean, do you understand we are doing this to slow the spread so hospitals dont end up overwhelmed and we dont have to resort to rationing care?
No, it's too late to stop and contain Covid. We know this. And it's already mutated. It will likely mutate again.
We are doing this to slow it down. Not contain it. That ship sailed.
So would you like to see break outs so bad our health care systems collapse and we have more deaths and more severely ill patients that we cannot keep up with? Throw some staff shortage on top of that? People getting reinfected?
Novel viruses work different with the human immune system than human viruses do. We have no immunities to this, it will spread faster than we can deal with.
And how many younger people have underlying health conditions they dont know they have?
We got "healthy" people in their 30s on vents here. Several others needing medical support, of various ages. In other countries, they had to make decisions to provide vent support to younger people with a stronger recovery rate and have pallative comfort care provided to the elderly or terminal.
What does that tell you?

I've got a few broken ribs and I'm in my forties... I don't need to be catching a viral pneumonia...
What I propose, since we'll all get it anyway, is to take exceptional measures for those most likely to die from this virus, and funnel our efforts into them, and them alone.
THEY need the hospital space, I don't. Do you want me in the ER complaining that I may have the sniffles? NO!
We have to shift focus here on who this virus will generally kill, and it's not the young and healthy. That's what I'm saying...

You are going to get it anyways. You cannot stop that fact. The only way you will not get it, is if you lived off the grid completely, with zero human contact, and that may even include special handling procedures for items mailed to you.
It spreads just like the common cold. If we could stop the spread of the common cold, we wouldn't get it. We can't stop the spread of the common cold, nor can we stop this.
We could attempt to generate a vaccine, but that is months away...

I have enough toilet paper for a month. Mel you're fucked living in nowhere land. I can send you some. $20 per roll.
I'm stocked up! And good to go! Besides, I don't know why people are so concerned about not having toilet paper!
I get the best clean on my ass with a damp facecloth that I can wash! Almost like taking a shower!
I live rural now, but close enough to all that I need... Newer immigrants may not feel comfortable in rural, but for Whitey it comes natural!

What do you think I've been doing for the last 8-10 weeks...
You think that I jusr magically decided recently that I needed to go bear hibernation?
We've got one outgoing and incoming person in this household and they're in a high risk category...
Pull your head in, mate....
Quote from: "Dove"
I mean, do you understand we are doing this to slow the spread so hospitals dont end up overwhelmed and we dont have to resort to rationing care?
That's my whole point. Many nations are rationing care already... If a 30 year old, otherwise healthy adult dies from this, there were already many underlying medical issues.
Quote from: "Dove"
No, it's too late to stop and contain Covid. We know this. And it's already mutated. It will likely mutate again.
Agreed on the first. Not sure on the last... Do you have evidence that this virus has mutated? If you do, you should share this newfound knowledge with the Center for Disease Control...
Quote from: "Dove"
We are doing this to slow it down. Not contain it. That ship sailed.
I understand that.
Quote from: "Dove"
So would you like to see break outs so bad our health care systems collapse and we have more deaths and more severely ill patients that we cannot keep up with? Throw some staff shortage on top of that? People getting reinfected?
That's going to happen anyways.
Quote from: "Dove"
Novel viruses work different with the human immune system than human viruses do. We have no immunities to this, it will spread faster than we can deal with.
They work just like any other virus does.
Quote from: "Dove"
And how many younger people have underlying health conditions they dont know they have?
Probably quite a few, but that's all academic at this point in time.
Quote from: "Dove"
We got "healthy" people in their 30s on vents here. Several others needing medical support, of various ages. In other countries, they had to make decisions to provide vent support to younger people with a stronger recovery rate and have pallative comfort care provided to the elderly or terminal.
What does that tell you?
It tells me that everyone will contract Chinkenpox shortly, so focus on the ones that it generally kills, and keep the rest separate from the system.

I self isolate better than 99.9% of the people anywhere, even before Chinkenpox!
Other than a couple of trades I needed to bring in for some select work, I haven't had a visitor in five years!
Five fucking years! Yes... I know isolation. I know it better than anyone, since I do it better than anyone.
Nobody here isolates themselves as well as I have. I haven't had one single person enter or leave, other than me, for about three weeks now.
I am in a position that most others are not. I have lived in isolation for years, and can easily handle it.
It is also lonesome. Very few people live like me.

I am literally alone.
No family, no kids, and no social circle at all...
It is not how you live... I live differently than all the others!
Mostly it's myself to blame, but I also wouldn't want it any other way!
Well my husband worked a lot and now he is running around after the oldies... 3 of them.
He officially retires next month...
I spend no quality time with him except the occasional day trip where I can go photograph birds...
IF his 88 year old mother drop dead, we would be free to travel more but while she lives, we're stuck to short day trips....
I do have 1 visitor, my 72 year old aunty.... so yeah, I guess I'm less isolated than you.... just!!
I can keep myself entertained.
I'm just dreaming of the day I'm free of obligations.

I think we read the same links.
You must forgive Caskur, she has the Greenie Disease. Trees are valuable, they are the lungs of the earth, that sort of thing. Don't cut them down, we will be starved of oxygen, the pretty birdies will have nowhere to shit on us from etcetera. Australians get a lot of that kind of chatter and it spreads even more readily than Coronavirus. In fact the spread is so bad, they've taken to listing trees as carbon sinks. You can guess what that does to their forest management policies.
Still, not all have succumbed to the fatal mental illness afflicting our resident birdpoop fancier. I heard tell of a firefighter from down that way not so long abo (sorry, ago) who insisted on felling a number of the designated carbon sinks ("trees" to the rest of us) from around his house. Quite an expensive habit by all accounts and the Greenie infected government there fined him 100,000 dollars for his troubles.
Then the bushfires came and burned through everything, destroying carbon sinks throughout the countryside, wiping out wildlife and so forth. Poor Caskur may never see another magpie or a willy wagtail for as long as she lives, such was the devastation. You can kind of understand her militancy when it comes to Mel and his aspirations in the lumberjack industry.
Ahhh, but guess whose house was the only one left standing after the fires came through? Seems that 100,000 dollar fine was in actual fact the best insurance policy that firefighter could have taken out on his property.
Moral: a little bit of forest management goes a long way. Also, rabid greenies are stupid and the Japanese should start harpooning them to save the planet.
I think that's it.

You posted a few weeks back, being uncertain if Canada even had any trees!
You haven't ever visited here it seems, so I can understand you not being familiar with a foreign nation, nor it's geography.
When I say that we're only second to Russia with trees, I mean just that... We have LOTS of fucking trees here, and our climate is perfect for them to grow right back! It's a sustainable resource, and most of our homes here are built from said trees.
You can live in a tin shack if you want to save the trees, but here we prefer wood for single detached!
Ummm,,, where I say I was uncertain? Didn't I just finish telling this forum I have Canadians in my Save the Trees group. You haven't got as many trees as Australia... Puh-leeze. :001_rolleyes:
My home is built in double brick, aluminum trusses, with a colour bond Iron roof... my floors are cement with either ceramic tiles or carpet covering the cement. I have 5 inch Baltic Pine boards in the formal loungeroom... And Jarrah posts around my verandah.
In Western Australia, most of the houses are double brick. Double brick needs no wood.
We got lots of trees in Canada. Even in densely populated Southern Ontario, trees are ubiquitous.

How Australia became one of the worst deforesters in the world
Urban sprawl is a problem in the areas where it occurs but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of forest destruction just to produce livestock for pasture.
Brazil, Australia, and Indonesia should be ashamed.
And the state with the highest rate of land clearing is Queensland.
In that state, in 2015-16, about 395,000 hectares of native vegetation were cleared.
That can be hard to visualise, but it's an area roughly the size of Sydney or Melbourne. It's the equivalent of 1,500 football fields cleared per day.
"In Queensland alone it's estimated 45 million animals were killed in 2015-16 because of bulldozing of forests - everything from geckos to cockatoos," Dr Taylor said.
Forest denuding hot spots...

I don't know what you heard on your little fb group.but as I said this country has no shortage of trees. We even have trees growing in prairie regions where they didn't prior to European settlement.
Historically, Australia's worst deforestation took place long before European settlement. Early migration from what is now South-East Asia found a country with significantly more vegetation coverage for the local fauna.

Your numbers are correct. Canada has more trees than any other nation in the world other than Russia. And at 9,000 trees for each person living here, we have more trees per capita than any other nation in the entire world.
So now that we know the numbers, I would say that Canada has plenty of trees, contrary to what your tree hugging friends may think!
A few chopped down here and there grow back rather quickly anyhow. We do replant logged areas.
I now live in an area that is known for its love and respect of nature. I am lucky to live here. But I'll tell you this! Even the tree huggers here don't give a fuck if people saw down a few trees!

Trees
By Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
I don't just photograph lightning and birds, I photograph trees.

Some people in my family have.
I have not been but the member in my tree group who lives in Nova Scotia keeps trying to plug his homeland. One of our friends took him up on his offer, and spent a couple of months there at his home. He makes furniture.
Way back in the early 90s a friend of mine (now deceased) went there and told me the trip was sensational and scenery was out of this world and told me to go and see for myself. I saw on her face how enarmoured with Canada she was.

Well, in certain environments keeping a workplace properly disinfected is important, such as in hospitals...
BC contracted hospital cleaning out to the lowest bidder years ago, and that hasn't exactly shown stellar results: Minimum wage, part time private employees with no benefits nor any basic proficiency of even the English language bouncing around from facility to facility, spreading disease and doing a half assed job because they don't care nor know any better.
Has any money been saved in the long run by doing so? Probably not...

You do not need any skills at all to do that job including English. You want to spend as little as possible on tasks like that. Particularly when it's the public's money.

There's a risk-reward ratio in paying an extremely low wage, and bringing in Temps to do that work, in some circumstances: What standards do we want to see in a public health facility, but more importantly, how much money have we really saved when the numbers are actually crunched? We don't know, but probably not that much.

In fact, camps and trailers were cleaner in developing countries than in Canada, US and Australia where they were paid more. The government has no right paying cleaner more than they are worth. It's our money, not theirs.
Herman...
They can get a jungle bunny to do your job with 5 bucks per hour..
Fashies husband and I work in a similar job..
In here, they might hire estonian or ukrainian electricians to do our job for 500 euros per month..
Nothing is worth anything if some1 is giving his talents for free.

I completely understand what you're saying.
I'll tell you a story: I briefly washed dishes once, in a restaurant. For minimum wage. Plates that you ate on, utensils that you'd shove in your mouth to eat, and the glasses you'd drink your beer/wine/water out of.
I was the only employee there to handle this task. It was a full-time job, albeit a brief job.
The washer was industrial, but it was run-down and a piece of shit, IMHO.
I often wasn't satisfied with the outcome of a one-cycle wash, even though I did my best to scrape off everything on the dirty plates: Spaghetti, cigarette butts, you name it.
I wanted to be proud of the fact that me, personally, will NEVER risk sending you a plate with shit stuck to it, dirty glasses, forks with crap stuck between the tongs, etc.
So, I would double cycle them. I could manage to double-cycle when it was slow, but it was impossible around dinner time on Friday/Saturday nights.
I couldn't keep up, and the Boss screamed at me. He was ready to fire me for being lazy. I didn't give a fuck. I refused to NOT double cycle every single item you handle in any restaurant.
I would not bow down to this pressure, and quit. I didn't hate the job (all jobs I do are done properly), but I would not tolerate my work being questioned.
They offered me a dollar/hour raise the moment I walked out the door. Fuck them! Their customers can again eat on dirty plates, using dirty utensils!
The fact is though, is that there is always people being brought into this country, that don't really give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

People from developing countries or living in them have a dirtyness phobia and are accustomed to cleaning things well with less solvents and tools than we consider necessary...
...look at how many people wash cars with just one shallow filled bucket of water and a few rags... and it's an immaculate job....
It's not always true that spending more on cleaning means a cleaner workplace..
I am public sector, I know our union exaggerates.
