She has a ceremonial role in the UK, but not in the commonwealth. Canada did not need nor seek approval from the King to declare war on Germany in 1939. Canada's independence to declare war was established by the Statute of Westminster of 1931. It domestic law in Australia and Canada.

My surname is Austrian from marriage not birth...
But every ancestor came from the UK except one great grandmother's surname was Jose, (Spanish).

Pretty sure queen Victoria was in total control over the british empire.
And so was King George.
The parliament was there to add some more bureaucratic gears to the system just so it doesnt seem like they are controlled by one man or woman.
The members of parliament got a little slice of the power cake and it made them happy.

I'm gonna have to side with Caskur on this one. They might give the appearance of being ceremonial, but that particular mask surely slipped when we saw just for quickly the less than pleasant aspects of Prince Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein got swept under the carpet.
