Title: China revises death toll
Post by: Anonymous on April 17, 2020, 04:10:19 AM
China revises Wuhan's Covid-19 death toll with a 50 percent rise

Text by:

FRANCE 24

Wuhan, the central Chinese city at the epicentre of the global pandemic, raised its number of Covid-19 fatalities by 1,290 to 3,869 deaths, state media said Friday. The revision was due to insufficient admission and treatment capabilities at the virus's peak, according to authorities.

Wuhan's revised death toll of 3,869 is the highest in China, representing a 50 percent rise from its previous count. Numbers of total cases in the city of 11 million were also raised by 325 to 50,333, accounting for about two-thirds of China's total 82,367 announced cases.

The official Xinhua News Agency quoted an unidentified official with Wuhan's epidemic and prevention and control headquarters as saying that during the early stages of the outbreak, "due to the insufficiency in admission and treatment capability, a few medical institutions failed to connect with the disease prevention and control system in time, while hospitals were overloaded and medics were overwhelmed with patients.

"As a result, belated, missed and mistaken reporting occurred," the official was quoted as saying.

The revision came a day after French President Emmanuel Macron voiced scepticism over the accuracy of China's reporting of the outbreak. "There are clearly things that have happened that we don't know about," said Macron in an interview with British daily, the Financial Times.

The US and UK have also questioned the accuracy of China's case figures amid accusations that Beijing sought to minimise the impact of the outbreak and initial delays in its response to the disease.

Filling in 'missed cases'

The new figures revealed Friday were compiled through a comparison of data from Wuhan's epidemic prevention and control big data system, the city funeral service system, the municipal hospital authority's information system, and the nucleic acid test system to "remove double-counted cases and fill in missed cases," the Xinhua News Agency quoted the unnamed official as saying.

New death cases were added because non-hospitalised deaths had not been registered at the disease control information system and some confirmed cases had been reported late or not been reported at all by some medical institutions, the official said.

Questions have long swirled around the accuracy of China's case reporting, with Wuhan in particular going several days in January without reporting new cases or deaths.

China has said the virus emerged from a Wuhan food market whose merchandise reportedly included exotic wild animals sold for human consumption.

The American election results of 2016 was a big bump in the road for China.

It was .. and I do not for a second believe this thing is accidental. Trump had China on the ropes and other counties were thinking of following that path

I don't know if China planned it from square 1 OR if an opportunity came up for them to cripple us and they took advantage of it

Either way, they deliberately did it - that's why my sig reads

Neither bats nor pangolins were sold at that Wuhan market.

As the coronavirus epidemic continues to rage across China, people have been sharing a video on social media that they claim shows a wide variety of animals – including dogs, rats and bats – being sold for meat at the market in Wuhan, believed to be the birthplace of the virus. Our team analysed this video and discovered it was actually filmed thousands of miles away from Wuhan.

The video, which is 4 minutes and 30 seconds long, was filmed by someone walking through an outdoor market where dog, bat, snake and rat meat are all for sale. The video was widely shared on social media, especially YouTube, with people claiming that it was filmed in the market in Wuhan that is thought to be where coronavirus was first transmitted to humans.

https://observers.france24.com/en/20200204-china-debunked-coronavirus-dogs-snakes-rats-bats-wuhan-market-indonesia

scientists largely agree it came from animals. But that is not the same as saying it didn't come from the lab, which spent years testing bat coronaviruses in animals, said Xiao Qiang, a research scientist at the School of Information at the University of California at Berkeley.

That's important because the Chinese government still refuses to answer basic questions about the origin of the novel coronavirus while suppressing any attempts to examine whether either lab was involved.

the Chinese government's original story — that the virus emerged from a seafood market in Wuhan — is shaky. Research by Chinese experts published in the Lancet in January showed the first known patient, identified on Dec. 1, had no connection to the market, nor did more than one-third of the cases in the first large cluster. Also, the market didn't sell bats.

They need to let inspectors in as soon as possible.

However, you can't tell me they haven't cleaned that place already so letting them in will achieve nothing.

What we need is a whistle blower from the lab.

I still remember my first experience with China as child...  it was a new toy I was playing with, that just sort of broke into pieces on its own.  When I looked at the sticker, it was made in China.

It was then that I formulated the opinion that China, although a foreign world to me, merely exists to provide the West with cheap disposable junk.  Nothing more, and nothing less!

We can rule out it coming from a seafood market in Wuhan.

The seafood market was first pinpointed in connection to the novel coronavirus in an early January statement by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission. Then you've got a study in The Lancet saying that of the first 41 known cases of COVID-19, 27 of them had been to the market.

Problem number one: Crowded meat markets aren't the most sanitary of places, but say you've got a dead bat with COVID-19. How does that bat suddenly infect dozens of people? Slaughtering weird animals is a great way to catch a new virus, but it's not like those 27 people were making out with the bat. For instance, I'm guessing you've eaten raw chicken from a butcher at some point in your life. Did you and everyone else at the butcher shop just randomly catch salmonella?

The earliest possible case they could find, identified in early December, was a guy who never left his house and had no connection to the market whatsoever. So before anyone got sick at that market, it seems like this virus was already all over Wuhan.

Now the seafood market still seems to play a key role in the early days of COVID-19, but not as the origin. What seems more likely is that someone who already had COVID-19 wandered into the market, maybe didn't cover their mouth when they coughed and, bingo, a whole bunch of other shoppers have a new virus.

So, to review. We don't know where COVID-19 comes from, it probably didn't come from the Huanan market, and yeah, sometimes labs screw up and release unbelievably dangerous pathogens.

The old lady has been saying all along this did not come from that market in Wuhan or eating bats. She won the bet.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that would have been considered tin foil hat material.

The virus is here and wasn't intentional.

Who cares where it came from?

The 'Spanish' Flu originated in the US. Big whoop.

The resulting World Recession, possible Depression, this virus is going to cause will bring China to its knees. No one will want their crap.

Quote from: "Gaon"The evidence is mounting that the coronavirus came from a lab and not any market.

We may never be 100% sure of the source, since it is China we're dealing with after all...

The old lady is very perceptive.

24'30" to 25'20" seems to be the smoking gun that identifies Covid-19 as having originated in the Wuhan lab, it certainly seems to indicate why the viral load vanishes under treatments normally reserved for HIV infectees.
